Eupterote is a genus of huge, colorful moths found primarily in Asia, especially in the Philippines and Southeast Asia. These moths are notable for their large size and distinctive wing patterns, which can vary in color and design.
They serve an important role in their ecosystems, helping to maintain biodiversity and ecological balance. Their remarkable appearances attract the interest of insect researchers and nature enthusiasts while also highlighting the broad range of insect species. Observing moths like them in their native habitats provides a fascinating glimpse into the complex world of lepidoptera and the delicate beauty of nature's creations.

Can be found in submontane primary mossy forests and secondary growth, around 700โ€“1500masl. It may occur at higher elevations (above 1000 masl) only in areas where Bundok Flycatcher (๐˜๐˜ช๐˜ค๐˜ฆ๐˜ฅ๐˜ถ๐˜ญ๐˜ข ๐˜ญ๐˜ถ๐˜ป๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ๐˜ช๐˜ฆ๐˜ฏ๐˜ด๐˜ช๐˜ด ๐˜ฎ๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜จ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฏ๐˜ข) is absent. (It is noted that these two closely related species are expected at certain elevations, but one or the other is completely absent.)
Usually solitary or in pairs; secretive and easily overlooked, foraging in the dense undergrowth.

Not globally threatened, BUT population is declining due to habitat loss!

The specific epithet "๐˜ค๐˜ณ๐˜บ๐˜ฑ๐˜ต๐˜ข" is from Latin for hidden, obscure, concealed.

As we celebrate life and nature, our pride is tempered by the growing shadow of plastic pollution, a silent threat that degrades every aspect of our planet's beauty. The same forests that formerly sheltered numerous species of wildlife now include plastic garbage entangled in branches.

A path of plastic garbage was left that affects the same ecosystems that support a variety of species. Every creature fights for survival in a world where bottles, bags, and bits of plastic are thrown everywhere. Blindly creating a tragedy for numerous organisms.

In this time of reflection, let us recommit our dedication to protecting and maintaining the natural wonders that enrich our lives!
Embracing sustainable methods, developing an environmental stewardship culture, and being a responsible tourist at all times!

Together, we can fight the threats of pollution! Begin by setting yourself as the best example to others.

This bird is a monotypic species that can only be found in specific areas of Mindanao. They thrive in primary forests, forest edges, and secondary growths, particularly in areas with flowering and fruiting trees. Diet includes fruit, nectar and pollen of mistletoes (Loranthaceae).

Their ecology and behavior are little known, but they are fairly common within the protected range.

Discovered and first collected in Mt. Apo!

Sadly, habitat destruction and heavy poaching are both serious threats. ๐Ÿ˜”
