il, strategic, conducive to learning and progressive Alegria Stand Alone Senior High School with School ID #340416 belongs to Alegria District of the Division of Surigao del Norte, Caraga Region, Philippines. The foundation of Alegria Stand Alone Senior High School was based on the pioneering efforts of the responsible public officials and DepEd Personnel. of Alegria National High School during school year 2013-2014 that Alegria Stand Alone was applied for and consequently approved considering that there was no more buildable space in the campus. Alegria Stand Alone Senior High School is located at Barangay Ouano, Alegria, Surigao del Norte. It is the only Senior High School Stand Alone in the said province. It is geographically situated 45 km. from the division of Surigao del Norte,left side of the provincial road going to Brgy. Ombong of the said municipality – at its west is the proposed main gate; the east is bounded by coco farm; the north is bounded by the evacuation centers and the south is bounded by residential lots. The school can be reached by land through bus, multicab and even single motorcycle. It has an area of one (1) hectare acquired through donation with the resolution created by the municipal officials under the mayor ship of Hon. The ground breaking ceremony was done sometime on April 2016 for an initial 6 rooms in a 2-storey building. Senior High School Core Curriculum has eight (8) learning areas namely: Language, Humanities, Communication, Mathematics, Philosophy, Science, Social Sciences, Physical Education and Health. The SHS Tracks are Academic, Technical-Vocational-Livelihood (TVL), Sports, Arts and Design. The Academic Track includes four (4) strands: Accountancy, Business and Management (ABM); General Academic; Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS); and Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). Alegria Stand Alone Senior High School initially offers Grade 11 two (2) strands namely: Academic and TVL. For academic, the school offers General Academic Strand (GAS) and Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS). For Technology-Vocational-Livelihood (TVL) Strand, the school offers Information, Communication and Technology (ICT-Animation/CHS), Industrial Arts – Electrical Installation and Maintenance (EIM) and Home Economics (Bread and Pastry and Cookery). The school is looking forward to offer complete strands for our senior high school learners. Since the school is the only stand-alone Senior High School, it might become the center for assessment throughout the division of Surigao del Norte. Alegria Stand Alone Senior High School staffed with 12 pioneer-teachers namely: Juanita L. Aranas, Catherine P. Dagcuta, Alexander R. Efren, Eden E. Galgo, Arlene C. Giducos, Engr. Ralph James V. Jaron, Mark I. Lanquino, Ramily P. Mazo, Pinky T.Morta, Francis Tom A. Paredes, Maricel V.Odog and Engr. Renee C.Villamor. Eight (8) of them are regular-permanent status and four (4) are probationary. The school will soon have one (1) Administrative Assistant (Bookkeeper), One (1) School Registrar, One (1) Librarian and Security Guard. The said institution is headed by the SHS Assistant Principal II, Dr. Leodrita U. Jerusalem.

Alegria District Extends Help to Earthquake Victims in Sarangani Through School Supplies Donation Drive

ALEGRIA, Surigao del Norte — Demonstrating compassion and solidarity in times of crisis, the district of Alegria conducted a donation drive. It distributed over 40 sets of school supplies to learners affected by the recent magnitude 7.8 earthquake in Sarangani Province.

The initiative was spearheaded by Mr. Alvin Buniel, the school district supervisor, with the support of school administrators, faculty members, students, parents, and stakeholders who came together to collect essential learning materials, including notebooks, pens, pencils, crayons, paper, and other educational supplies. The donated items aim to help affected learners continue their education despite the challenges brought about by the disaster.

The earthquake, which occurred on June 8, caused widespread damage to homes, schools, and infrastructure in several municipalities of Sarangani, displacing thousands of families and disrupting the education of many students. Relief and recovery efforts continue as affected communities work toward rebuilding their lives.

According to Mr. Buniel, the donation drive reflects the Alegria district's commitment to promoting the spirit of bayanihan and social responsibility among learners. “Education must continue even in difficult times. Through this simple act of kindness, we hope to bring encouragement and support to our fellow students in Sarangani,” the district supervisor shared.

The school supplies were carefully packed and delivered through partner organizations and volunteers to ensure they reached the intended beneficiaries. The initiative also served as an opportunity for students to learn the value of empathy, generosity, and community service.

As the people of Sarangani continue their recovery journey, the Alegria district remains hopeful that collective efforts and acts of kindness from various sectors will help affected families rebuild and move forward stronger than before.

The earthquake near Sarangani displaced thousands of residents and affected many schools and learners across the province, prompting relief efforts from government agencies and various organizations.

ALEGRIA, Surigao del Norte – June 12, 2026 – Faculty members of Alegria Stand Alone Senior High School (ASASHS) proudly participated in the celebration of the 128th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence, joining fellow government employees, local officials, and community members in honoring the country’s rich history and enduring freedom.

The commemorative program highlighted the significance of June 12, a historic date that marks the declaration of Philippine independence in 1898. Through the flag-raising ceremony, patriotic songs, and messages of unity and nationalism, participants were reminded of the sacrifices made by Filipino heroes in securing the nation’s freedom.

Led by School Principal Melba G. Lumangcas, the ASASHS faculty demonstrated their commitment to promoting patriotism and civic responsibility among learners. Their presence in the celebration reflected the school’s dedication to nurturing students who are not only academically competent but also deeply rooted in Filipino values and national identity.

ASASHS Holds First Parents’ Orientation for School Year 2026–2027

Alegria, Surigao del Norte – Alegria Stand Alone Senior High School (ASASHS) successfully conducted its First Parents’ Orientation for School Year 2026–2027, bringing together parents, guardians, faculty members, and school officials to strengthen collaboration in ensuring quality education and student success.

The orientation served as an avenue to acquaint parents with DepEd's new SHS-strengthened curriculum, the school’s programs, policies, academic expectations, and planned activities for the incoming school year. It also highlighted the vital role of parents as partners in nurturing responsible, disciplined, and academically competent learners.

School Principal Mrs. Melba G. Lumangcas warmly welcomed the parents and emphasized the importance of maintaining open communication and strong cooperation between the school and families. She encouraged parents to actively participate in school initiatives and support their children’s educational journey.

During the program, members of the teaching and non-teaching staff were introduced, along with the Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SSLG) officers who will serve as student leaders throughout the school year. Important matters concerning student welfare, attendance, academic performance, school rules, and upcoming activities were likewise discussed.

Parents were allowed to raise concerns, ask questions, and share suggestions, fostering a positive and productive dialogue with school personnel.

Division and District Officials Monitor Literacy and Numeracy Assessment at ASASHS

ALEGRIA, Surigao del Norte – Alegria Stand Alone Senior High School (ASASHS) successfully conducted the Literacy and Numeracy Assessment (LNA) as part of the Department of Education’s continuing efforts to evaluate and strengthen learners’ foundational skills in reading, writing, and mathematics.

The assessment was closely monitored by Division Monitoring Team member Mrs. Mary Grace Tadulan and District Supervisor Mr. Alvin Buniel, who visited the school to ensure the proper administration of the assessment and adherence to established testing protocols. Their presence underscored the commitment of the Schools Division Office and the district to maintaining the integrity and quality of the assessment process.

Leading the school-based monitoring team were School Head Melba G. Lumangcas, School Testing Coordinator Jake Francis B. Lumbres, and School Testing Result Evaluator Cherry Mae M. Ranay. Together, they ensured the smooth and orderly conduct of the assessment, from the distribution of testing materials to the implementation of testing procedures.

The assessment aims to measure students’ proficiency in literacy and numeracy skills, providing valuable data that will guide instructional planning, intervention programs, and academic support initiatives. Through this activity, the school seeks to identify learners’ strengths and areas for improvement to ensure that no student is left behind in achieving essential learning competencies.

Leading the monitoring activity is School Head Melba G. Lumangcas, who emphasized the importance of accurate and reliable assessment results in enhancing the quality of education.
