𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐍𝐀𝐍 | Nagsagawa ng on-site monitoring and evaluation sa proyektong Field Validation of Biological Control Agents on Managing Insect Pests in Rice Cluster Areas of Region 12 sa Surallah, South Cotabato at M’lang, Cotabato ang DA-Bureau of Agricultural Research (DA-BAR). Layunin ng naturang pagsusuri na tiyakin na epektibo at angkop para sa mga magsasaka ang teknolohiyang ipinagkaloob ng DA.

“Malaki po ang naitulong ng Integrated Pest Management kasi nabawasan po ang gastos at nakakatulong ito sa kalikasan at kapaligiran sa pagbawas ng sobrang chemical residue. Mas epektibo ang aplikasyon laban sa mga mapaminsalang insekto sa palayan. Nakakadagdag ng bagong teknolohiya at kaalaman sa mga farmer.” Pahayag ni Manager Dennis E. Monsale ng Brgy. Dajay DemoFarm sa bayan ng Surallah.

Ang matagumpay na biocontrol agents ay likas na pumipigil sa peste at sakit, kaya nagreresulta sa mas malusog na pananim, mas mababang gastos sa pestisidyo, at mas mataas at mas matatag na ani. Pinapangalagaan din nito ang kalusugan ng lupa, kapaligiran, at mga magsasaka, na nagtataguyod ng mas napapanatili at kapaki-pakinabang na sistema ng pagsasaka.

𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐍𝐀𝐍 | Nagsagawa kamakailan ng beneficiaries’ farm immersion ang mga piling magsasaka ng rehiyon kasama ang Research and Development Division ng DA RFO XII sa bayan ng San Miguel at Dimataling, Zamboanga del Sur. Isinagawa ito kaugnay ng proyektong “Outscaling of Integrated Nutrient and Crop Pest Management Towards Enhanced Crop Productivity and Sustainable Entrepreneurship” sa piling mga munisipalidad ng Sarangani Province.

Sa loob ng tatlong araw na farm immersion at benchmarking, higit pang nadagdagan ang kaalaman at kasanayan ng mga magsasaka sa pamamagitan ng mga leksyon at karanasang ibinahagi ng kanilang kapwa magsasaka mula sa Region 9. Naibahagi rin ang iba’t ibang epektibong pamamaraan at mga praktikal na tips na nakatulong sa pagpapataas ng ani sa nasabing rehiyon. Layunin ng aktibidad na ito na maisabuhay ng mga kalahok ang kanilang mga natutunan sa kani-kanilang mga sakahan upang higit pang mapabuti ang kanilang produksyon at mapalaki ang kanilang kita.

𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐍𝐀𝐍 | Isinagawa ang Regional Planning Workshop at Presentation of Accomplishments ng mga proyektong pinondohan ng DA-Bureau of Agricultural Research (DA-BAR) noong Pebrero 12–13, 2026 sa General Santos City.

Naging mahalagang tagpuan ito ng mga kinatawan mula sa iba’t ibang sektor, kabilang ang mga Agricultural Technicians at Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs) mula sa iba’t ibang munisipyo, pati na ang mga kinatawan mula sa OPAg ng Sultan Kudarat, South Cotabato, at Sarangani.

Dumalo rin ang piling mga magsasaka upang ibahagi ang mga naging tagumpay ng mga proyektong suportado ng BAR, talakayin ang mga hamon lalo na sa larangan ng seed production at maglatag ng mas matibay na plano para sa mga susunod na hakbang tungo sa mas pinaigting na pag-unlad ng agrikultura sa rehiyon.

𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐍𝐀𝐍 | Matagumpay na isinagawa ang Training on Insect Pest and Diseases and it’s Management na pinangunahan ng DA-Bureau of Agricultural Research (DA-BAR) katuwang ang Research for Development Division ng DA-RFO XII, sa Brgy. Dajay, Surallah, South Cotabato nitong Pebrero 3-4, 2026.
Layunin ng training na ito na mabigyan ng makabagong kaalaman at praktikal na kasanayan ang mga rice farmers ng Dalisay-Sampaguita Association (DALISAM) sa tamang pagtukoy, pagmomonitor, at pamamahala ng mga peste at sakit sa palay at iba pang pananim.

| The Department of Agriculture-Regional Field Office 12 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 (𝐑𝟒𝐃) 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 successfully conducted its Pre-implementation review and Target Setting of 2026 Proposals on January 20-21, 2026, at Sarangani Highlands, General Santos City.

The activity was carried out to examine the physical and financial performance of R4D projects in 2025, identify implementation gaps, assess the state of the 2026 Work Plan and Project Procurement Management Plan (PPMP), and establish objectives and performance criteria for fiscal year 2026.

Moreover, the said activity also acted as a pre-implementation evaluation, ensuring that proposed studies were aligned with current policy directions and goals of 𝐎𝐈𝐂-𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐄𝐱𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐧 𝐁. 𝐏𝐚𝐬𝐜𝐮𝐚𝐥, 𝐃𝐕𝐌 with a theme "𝐌𝐚𝐠𝐛𝐮𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐲, a 𝐉ourney to 𝐁etter 𝐏erformance".

The DA - Bureau of Agricultural Research, represented by Ms. Nieva Ignacio and Ms. Shaina Balingbing, conducted an on-site monitoring and evaluation visit from July 22-25, 2025 for projects implemented by DA-RFO XII. These projects are: "Assessment and Documentation of Organic Farming of Indigenous Cultural Communities in SOCCSKSARGEN" and "Development of a Production System for Black Soldier Fly (𝘏𝘦𝘳𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘢 𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘶𝘤𝘦𝘯𝘴 𝘓.) Frass in SOCCSKSARGEN Region."

This activity was conducted to thoroughly validate whether the objectives of each study were successfully achieved. Beyond mere validation, a significant portion of the monitoring was dedicated to strategically discussing and defining the concrete way forward for every project.

The DA RFO 12 - Research for Development Division, in collaboration with the Regional Crop Protection Center 12, is actively conducting pest monitoring, collection, and application of biological control agents (BCAs) under the project “𝐅𝐢𝐞𝐥𝐝 𝐕𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐁𝐢𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐥 𝐀𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 (𝘽𝙚𝙖𝙪𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙖 𝙗𝙖𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙖𝙣𝙖, 𝙈𝙚𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙝𝙞𝙯𝙞𝙪𝙢 𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙨𝙤𝙥𝙡𝙞𝙖𝙚, and 𝙏𝙧𝙞𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙢𝙢𝙖 𝙟𝙖𝙥𝙤𝙣𝙞𝙘𝙪𝙢) 𝐢𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐏𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐑𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐂𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐀𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧 12.”

This IPM project aims to:
✅ Compare the effectiveness of BCAs with current farmers’ practices.
✅ Enhance the mass production and adoption of BCAs in rice farming communities.
✅ Train and capacitate rice farmers and LGUs in sustainable pest management.

This initiative, funded by the DA - Bureau of Agricultural Research, is geared towards advancing eco-friendly and science-based solutions for resilient rice production.
