BAGONG PILIPINAS RICE PROGRAM DISTRIBUTION

Another day of bringing support closer to the people of La Paz. 🤝

The Local Government Unit of La Paz facilitated the distribution of rice under the Bagong Pilipinas Rice Program, providing food assistance to beneficiaries across the municipality.

For families, assistance like this can help ease daily expenses and provide a little more support at home. We are grateful for the opportunity to work alongside our national government partners in making sure these programs reach the people who need them.

The LGU of La Paz remains committed to making government assistance more accessible and bringing meaningful programs and services closer to every community.

Service with heart, and service for the people. 🧡✨

VACCINATION FOR PROTECTION 💉 | The Local Government Unit of La Paz, Abra, through its Rural Health Unit (RHU), in partnership with the Provincial Health Office and the Department of Health (DOH), has officially rolled out the Measles-Rubella Supplemental Immunization Activity (MR SIA) in the municipality.

This initiative aims to protect children aged 6–59 months against measles or “kamoras” and rubella, also known as German measles, through safe and proven vaccines, along with vitamin A supplementation to help strengthen their immunity.

La Paz Mayor Niña Bernos emphasized that the program is not only about health protection but also about making immunization more engaging and child-friendly, ensuring that parents and children feel comfortable and supported throughout the process.

Following the launch, the RHU La Paz will continue the vaccination drive across all barangays, reaching even the farthest communities to ensure that every eligible child is vaccinated and protected.

Joining the activity are personnel from the Provincial Health Office led by Dr. Marie Alexis Gasa, the Department of Health led by Dr. Lilibeth Martin, and other health partners and stakeholders who continue to support the municipality’s health programs.

We encourage all parents and guardians to support this important initiative and welcome our health workers during their barangay visits. Together, let us ensure that no child is left behind when it comes to protection and care.

Because when our children are healthy, our future is stronger. ❤️

📢 PUBLIC ADVISORY | SUSPENSION OF CLASSES AND GOVERNMENT WORK

In accordance with the advisory issued by the Provincial Government of Abra, classes at all levels (public and private) and work in government offices are suspended on Thursday, August 6, 2026.

This suspension is being implemented due to the inclement weather brought about by Tropical Storm Maymay and the enhanced Southwest Monsoon (Habagat), which continue to bring moderate to heavy rainfall across Northern Luzon, including Abra.

Your safety remains our highest priority. We encourage everyone to take the necessary precautions:

🔹 Stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel.
🔹 Do not attempt to cross flooded roads, rivers, or bridges.
🔹 Charge your mobile phones and keep emergency lights or flashlights ready in case of power interruptions.
🔹 Prepare drinking water, food, medicines, and other essential supplies.
🔹 Keep children, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities safe and indoors whenever possible.
🔹 Continue to monitor official updates from PAGASA, the Provincial Government of Abra, and your local DRRM Office for the latest weather advisories and emergency announcements.

Let us all remain vigilant, prepared, and look out for one another during this period of severe weather.

Stay safe, Abra. 🤍🌧️

La Paz may be a small municipality, but our experiences have a place in global conversations.

Opportunities like this remind us that the work happening in our municipalities matters. Our experiences, our challenges, and our solutions all have a place in shaping conversations beyond our borders.

Honored to represent La Paz, the League of Municipalities of the Philippines, and the voices of our local governments at the United Nations.

Maraming salamat sa tiwala. 🇵🇭
