Corcaarrd

It started as Highland Agriculture Research Center (HARC) on November 17, 1978 under the leadership of Dr. William D. It is mandated to help improve agriculture and aquatic productivity and to enhance Natural Resources development in the Cordillera Administrative Region. In 1980, it formally became a research consortium through a Memorandum of Agreement among the then Philippine Council for Agricu

lture and Resources Research (PCARR), now PCAARRD; the Mountain State Agricultural College(MSAC), now Benguet State University; and the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA). The consortia mechanism was established to have regional venue for planning, evaluation, and sharing of resources among RDE agencies per region toward AANR development. Since 1986, it bannered its name HARRDECHAARRDEC for almost three decades. By 2018, it
was again renamed as Cordillera Consortium for Agriculture, Aquatic, and Resources Research & Development (CorCAARRD). This is to give emphasis to its geographical premise and to embody its unique identity as a region. Based at BSU, it is one of the 15 R&D consortia nationwide that is organized and substantially
supported by DOST-PCAARRD. Primarily, CorCAARRD provides a mechanism to coordinate and monitor the Research, Development and Extension programs and projects of all 20 consortium member institutions (CMIs).
