𝐃𝐓𝐈 𝐑𝟏 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐄𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐀𝐯𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐜 𝐆𝐨𝐨𝐝𝐬
In response to the recent typhoons (Dante and Emong) and intensified Southwest Monsoon affecting the entire Ilocos Region, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region 1 Consumer Protection Divisions, through its Provincial Offices, have significantly intensified price and supply monitoring efforts.
The activity aims to ensure a stable supply of basic necessities and prime commodities and to proactively prevent any instances of price manipulation, such as hoarding and profiteering, during and after these weather disturbances.

Monitoring results indicated that the prices of basic necessities and prime commodities remain stable, with observed prices either lower than or consistent with the Suggested Retail Price (SRP). Furthermore, the overall supply of goods across the region remains stable.

A Price Freeze is currently in effect in areas where a State of Calamity has been declared. These areas include:
* Dagupan City
* Pangasinan Towns: Umingan, Lingayen, Mangaldan, Calasiao, Santa Barbara, Malasiqui, and Mangatarem

The DTI Region 1 remains steadfast in its commitment to protecting consumer welfare throughout the Ilocos Region. # # #

DTI Region 1 successfully conducted the 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩 𝐨𝐧 𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐂𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐑𝐨𝐚𝐝𝐦𝐚𝐩 on February 24, 2025, at J&V Hotel and Resort, San Fernando City, La Union. The workshop aimed to refine localized action plans that will strengthen industry development in the region.

The activity was graced by DTI Region 1 Acting Regional Director Merlie D. Membrere, together with DTI Ilocos Norte Provincial Director Amelia E. Galvez and DTI La Union OIC-Provincial Director Victoria A. Ordono. Ms. Juliet P. Lucas, retired DTI-CAR Regional Director, facilitated the workshop and shared practical insights on roadmap localization.

The workshop was attended by representatives from the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Bagulin, National Government Agencies (NGAs) such as the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA), Department of Science and Technology (DOST), and Department of Agriculture (DA), the academe, including Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College (ISPSC), Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University-Sericulture Research and Development Institute (DMMMSU-SRDI), and Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU), and representatives from the private sector.

During the workshop, DTI Provincial Offices presented their outputs, while the resource speaker and stakeholders provided recommendations to further enhance the localization process.

DTI Region 1 will continue working with stakeholders to develop a more cohesive roadmap and action plan to effectively address industry gaps.
