Did you know that as early as 1905, during the American colonial era, a comprehensive urban plan was already laid out for Manila? It was crafted by renowned architect and urban planner Daniel Burnham.
His vision wasn't just about grand boulevards and neoclassical buildings. Burnham’s plan strategically integrated Manila's natural esteros and waterways to function as an efficient drainage and flood control system, balanced with green parks and reclaimed land.
If this master plan had been fully realized and preserved, the flooding situation in Metro Manila today might have been vastly different.
True urban progress isn't just about building more—it's about planning smart for generations to come.
