โญ๏ธ HAPPY NATIONAL HEROES DAY! โญ๏ธ

Today, we remember the sacrifices our national heroes endured and the triumphs they achieved to bring the Philippines to where it is today.

As declared in Republic Act No. 9492, the Philippines observes National Heroes Day every last Monday of August to serve as an opportunity for countrymen to honor all Filipino heroes. The theme for this year is entitled, โ€œIsang Diwa, Isang Lahi, Isang Bayanihan.โ€

Their bravery serves not only as an inspiration but also a reminder for Filipinos when we proudly sing our National Anthem: โ€œAming ligaya, na pag may mang-aapi, ang mamatay nang dahil sa iyo (But it is glory ever, when thou art wronged, for us thy sons to suffer and die).โ€

Mabuhay ang ating mga bayani! Mabuhay ang minamahal nating Pilipinas! ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ญ

Emong maintains its strength as it is about to turn southeastward.

Whole Apayao and western portions of Cagayan are now under Wind Signal No. 2; all other wind warnings remain the same.

At 7 a.m. Thursday, Severe Tropical Storm Emong was located 245 km west of Bacnotan, La Union. It has sustained winds of 110 kph with gusts up to 135 kph and is moving south southwestward at 15 kph.

It may reach typhoon intensity prior to landfall in Ilocos tonight or early Friday.

The highest wind warning to be hoisted is wind signal no. 4.

There is minimal to moderate risk of storm surge with one to two meters height in the next 36 hours over Zambales, Ilocos Region, Cagayan, and Batanes.

Sea travel is also risky for all types of vessels over the western seaboards of Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, and Occidental Mindoro due to expected very rough to high sea conditions. | via ABS-CBN resident meteorologist Ariel Rojas
