As part of its annual activities, the SK Federation of Lapu-Lapu City held a Feeding Program at Sabang Elementary School, reaching at least 400 learners who enjoyed the health talk, fun mini-games, and, of course, the food prepared for them.

The activity was led by SK Federation President, Hon. Orlan Joseph C. Carungay, together with SK Sabang Chairperson, Hon. Elmer Tradio; SK San Vicente Chairperson, Hon. Darwin Jumao-as; SK Sta. Rosa Chairperson, Hon. Junmar Butalid; and SK Mactan Chairperson, Hon. Sheena Jane Tioc-Pasana.

The program featured a short nutrition and health talk, fun games, and food distribution. SK Baring Chairperson, Hon. Elmer Keith Macaraya, and SK Tungasan Chairperson, Hon. Jeda Blair Bahio, also joined the activity and shared lunch with the other SK Chairpersons, SKF staff, and Sabang Elementary School faculty and staff.

A big thank you to the faculty and staff of Sabang Elementary School, headed by Dr. Herlie Mae Catadman, for warmly welcoming us and assisting the federation throughout the activity.

More than just sharing food, this was about sharing smiles, time, and genuine care with our learners. Because sometimes, a simple meal, a little fun, and showing up can make a big difference.

The Office of the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation of Lapu-Lapu City, headed by ๐‡๐จ๐ง. ๐Ž๐ซ๐ฅ๐š๐ง ๐‰๐จ๐ฌ๐ž๐ฉ๐ก ๐‚. ๐‚๐š๐ซ๐ฎ๐ง๐ ๐š๐ฒ, joined the screening interviews for the second batch of applicants to the Lapu-Lapu City Scholarship Program for Higher Education.

A total of at least 150 aspiring scholars participated in the screening process, which was conducted in collaboration with the Office of the Local Youth Development through Mr. Cesar Ian F. Amores, the program's lead implementer.

Representing the Office of the SK Federation of Lapu-Lapu City on the screening committee were Hon. Orlan Joseph C. Carungay, Chairperson of the Committee on Youth Development; Chief of Staff Mr. Melvin M. Ygoรฑa; and Hon. Annabeth Cuizon, Chairperson of the Committee on Education. Together, they took part in the evaluation of applicants to help ensure a fair, transparent, and merit-based selection process for the scholarship program, reaffirming the Office's commitment to expanding educational opportunities for deserving youth in Lapu-Lapu City.

The SK Federation of Lapu-Lapu City, under the leadership of Federation President Hon. Orlan Joseph C. Carungay, successfully conducted the Coaching and Monitoring on the Comprehensive Barangay Youth Development Plan (CBYDP) and Annual Barangay Youth Investment Program (ABYIP) for all Sangguniang Kabataan Barangays in Lapu-Lapu City on July 21, 2026.

This meaningful initiative was made possible in partnership with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) โ€“ Lapu-Lapu City, the City Accounting Office, and the City Budget Office, reinforcing the commitment to strengthen youth governance through effective planning, budgeting, and financial management.

A highlight of the activity was the discussion led by Dr. Neila N. Aquino, CESO V, City Director of DILGโ€“Lapu-Lapu City, who thoroughly discussed the Guidelines on the Appropriation, Release, Planning, and Budgeting Process of SK Funds, along with other important matters concerning the functions and responsibilities of the Sangguniang Kabataan.

Representatives from the City Accounting Office also provided guidance on the proper preparation of the required accounting forms, while the City Budget Office discussed key concerns and procedures in the preparation of each SK Barangay's annual budget.

Through this collaborative effort, SK officials were equipped with the knowledge and guidance needed to ensure compliant, transparent, and responsive youth development planning and budgeting for their respective communities.

Together, we continue to build stronger, more accountable, and youth-centered governance in Lapu-Lapu City.

During the conference, Hon. Carungay presented updates on the commitments made by the Lapu-Lapu City delegation during the previous problem-solving sessions. He highlighted the city's continuing efforts to address the shortage of classrooms through the expedited implementation of classroom construction projects, the acquisition of properties for future campus expansion, and the acceleration of other necessary processes to improve educational infrastructure.

As one of the significant milestones, Hon. Carungay shared that just last Monday, the City Government of Lapu-Lapu officially turned over a newly constructed multi-purpose building to Babag National High School. The facility provides additional classrooms and a gymnasium, further enhancing the school's capacity to deliver a more conducive learning environment for its students.

Hon. Carungay also presented updates on other education and youth development initiatives currently being undertaken by the city government, ensuring that conference participants were informed of Lapu-Lapu City's continuing efforts to strengthen educational opportunities and services for young people.

In his closing message, Hon. Carungay emphasized that the City Government of Lapu-Lapu, under the leadership of Mayor Ma. Cynthia K. Chan, together with the SK Federation of Lapu-Lapu City, remains steadfast in its commitment to supporting the youth. He assured participants that both the city government and the SK Federation continue to welcome concerns, recommendations, and requests for assistance from youth learners as partners in building a stronger and more inclusive educational future.

EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM EXTENDED UNTIL SEPTEMBER 30, 2026, EXPANDED FOR SOCIAL WORK & MEDICINE COURSES

To ensure that more deserving Oponganon students are given the opportunity to benefit, we have extended the application period until September 30, 2026.

We have also expanded the program to include students pursuing Social Work and Medicine, recognizing the vital role these professions play in building a stronger and more compassionate community.
