The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) on Wednesday assured overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their families of continued government support amid rising tensions in the Middle East.
Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac said the agency remains committed to providing comprehensive assistance, including onsite support, repatriation, and reintegration, under the whole-of-government approach led by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
As of April 6, 2026, a total of 4,611 OFWs and their dependents have safely returned from the region.
The DMW reported that assistance on the ground is ongoing, including the provision of temporary shelter, food, basic necessities, medical and psychosocial services, financial aid, and transportation support.
The agency is also facilitating land transfers to exit points for repatriation in coordination with the Department of Foreign Affairs and in accordance with host country safety protocols.
Through its Migrant Workers Offices and Philippine embassies, the DMW continues to monitor developments closely to ensure the safety and welfare of OFWs, including Filipino seafarers navigating key waterways such as the Persian Gulf, Strait of Hormuz, and Gulf of Oman.
Secretary Cacdac also highlighted the governmentโs reintegration programs for returning OFWs, which include livelihood and financial assistance, skills training, and job placement services.
In partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), the DMW is exploring alternative labor markets and profiling repatriated workers to match them with suitable employment opportunities, helping ensure their transition to stable and sustainable livelihoods. # # #
