As part of their continuing education and active participation in community-building, the Junior Youth Officials (JYOs) took part in a meaningful activity focused on environmental awareness and sustainability. The event was held on September 16, 2025, and featured an insightful discussion on Waste Segregation conducted by Engr. Ariel B. Gam, followed by an onsite visitation to the Sanitary Landfill Facility (Eco Park).

The engagement aimed to deepen the understanding of the JYOs about proper waste management practices and the critical role of waste segregation in protecting the environment. Engr. Gam, a seasoned environmental engineer, shared comprehensive knowledge about the types of waste, the proper way to segregate them, and how improper waste disposal negatively impacts the community and ecosystem.

He also introduced the group to various waste reduction technologies and machinery currently being utilized at the Eco Park, giving the youth a firsthand look at how the community manages solid waste sustainably. The site visit served as an eye-opening experience for many of the Junior Youth Officials, as they were able to witness how theory translates into action.

The program also highlighted the ongoing efforts and projects of the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) in promoting environmental protection and sustainable development. Through this initiative, the JYOs gained not only technical knowledge but also a deeper appreciation of their role in advocating for eco-friendly practices within their own barangays and schools.

A special acknowledgment and sincere appreciation were extended to 𝙀𝙣𝙜𝙧. 𝘼𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙡 𝘽. 𝙂𝙖𝙢 for sharing his expertise and time. His valuable insights greatly contributed to the environmental awareness of the youth participants.

𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟏𝟓, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓

The Local Youth Development Office, in partnership with the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Chairperson and the newly elected Junior Youth Officials (JYOs), led the Flag Raising Ceremony held on the morning of September 15, 2025. The event was a significant milestone for the youth sector as it also marked the official Induction of the Junior Youth Officials into their respective positions.

As part of the program, the Junior Youth Officials showcased their appreciation for Filipino culture by performing a traditional Philippine folk dance titled “Alitaptap.” The graceful performance highlighted their talents, unity, and commitment to preserving cultural heritage while taking on their new roles as young leaders in the community.

A key moment of the event was the inspirational message delivered by the Junior Youth Municipal Mayor Josh Vince Arpon , who shared heartfelt words of encouragement and leadership. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of youth involvement in governance and community development. He urged his fellow Junior Youth Officials to rise to the challenge of being “the leaders of tomorrow and the action of today,” encouraging them to lead by example, take initiative, and work together for a better future.

In line with the week-long celebration of 𝐋𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐠𝐨 𝐧𝐠 𝐊𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐚𝐧, the 𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞 successfully conducted an election of Junior Youth Officials on September 12, 2025.

This initiative is part of the continuing effort to promote youth empowerment and civic engagement by providing young individuals with the opportunity to experience leadership roles within the local government.

The elected 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘀 will serve as acting local officials and department heads for the duration of the Linggo ng Kabataan celebration. During this period, they will participate in various official duties, attend meetings, and assist in the planning and implementation of programs under the supervision of their respective mentors from the local government.
