DAY 3 OF SCREENING | April 11, 2026 marked the conclusion of the three-day Screening of Players and Muses for the Libon Cup 2026 in Libon, Albay.

The final round focused on completing the evaluation of all participants, ensuring that standards of athletic performance, discipline, and sportsmanship were consistently applied. Muses were likewise assessed based on overall presentation.

With the screening process concluded, the selection of official representatives from participating barangays is now set, paving the way for the orderly conduct of the Libon Cup 2026.

LIBON CUP 2026 SCREENING DAY 2 | The second day of the Screening of Players and Muses for the Libon Cup 2026 was held on April 10, 2026 at Zubiri Hall, LGU Annex Building in Libon, Albay.

Building on the initial round, participants once again underwent assessment, showcasing their abilities, discipline, and readiness to represent their respective barangays. The screening also evaluated muses on their confidence, bearing, and presentation.

This continuing process ensures a thorough and fair selection of participants who will carry the spirit of excellence, sportsmanship, and community pride in the upcoming Libon Cup 2026.

SUMMER READING PROGRAM | LGU-Libon formally launched its Summer Reading Program under the Municipal Special Education Program (MSEP), with an orientation conducted for participating schools and stakeholders on April 10, 2026.

The initiative is spearheaded by the MSEP Unit under the leadership of Cyril Cerdeña, targeting Grade 4 to 6 pupils from ten (10) identified schools. These schools were selected based on the Phil-IRI results submitted by the Libon District Office, focusing on learners with the highest number of struggling readers for Academic Year 2025–2026.

Set to be implemented from April 13 to May 8, 2026, the program aims to strengthen reading proficiency and comprehension among learners through guided interventions and structured learning sessions.

This initiative reflects the LGU’s continued commitment to improving literacy outcomes and ensuring that every child is given the opportunity to succeed through education.

NATIONAL ID | The Philippine Statistics Authority is now available every Monday at the 2nd Floor, LGU-Libon Building in Libon, Albay, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, on a first-come, first-served basis.

Residents are advised to prepare the following requirements:
For ages 0–4 years old:
• Original Birth Certificate
• National ID of the accompanying parent/guardian

For ages 5 years old and above:
• Original Birth Certificate (PSA/NSO/LCR)
• Any valid ID with complete name, birthdate, and photo such as:
– Driver’s License
– Passport
– UMID
– PhilHealth ID
– SSS ID
– Voter’s ID
– Senior Citizen ID

For those requesting a printed (black and white) copy of their National ID, presentation of the Transaction Slip is required.

Applicants are also reminded to follow proper attire and appearance guidelines: sleeveless tops are not allowed, and wearing of makeup, earrings, and necklaces is discouraged to ensure smooth processing.

All are encouraged to take advantage of this weekly service for convenient access to PSA-related transactions.

ARAW NG KAGITINGAN | On April 9, 2026, the Municipality of Libon, Albay solemnly observed the Araw ng Kagitingan at the Veteran’s Memorial Monument, led by Mayor Atty. Markgregor Edward Sayson and Vice Mayor Atty. Janero Saclag, together with municipal officials.

The commemoration began with a parade around the poblacion, followed by a formal flag ceremony and wreath-laying at the monument - symbolic acts of remembrance and honor for the nation’s heroes. The activity was attended by uniformed personnel from the Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, Philippine Navy, and the Philippine Army, alongside LGU employees, in a unified tribute to the valor and heroism of Filipino soldiers.

A highlight of the ceremony was the recognition of Private Alipio Secillano, a Libongeño who was honored for his courage during the Korean War as its first recorded casualty. His family received the tribute on his behalf, serving as a poignant reminder of the enduring legacy of sacrifice and patriotism.

Beneficiaries from the South Quinale Irrigators Association participated in practical discussions on farm business management, with the LGU committing agricultural inputs and technical support to ensure effective implementation.
