DTI Marinduque Advances Coconut Industry Development Through Technology Mission in Quezon

As part of the Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Plan (CFIDP), DTI Marinduque conducted a Technology Mission on Coco Coir and Coco Peat at BVB Agricole Corp. and Briqstone Manufacturing in Candelaria, Quezon on September 23-24, 2026.

The activity brought together eight (8) coconut farmers’ cooperatives/associations from Marinduque, along with delegates from Marinduque State University (MarSU), providing participants with an opportunity to learn firsthand about the processing, production, and utilization of coconut by-products.

Key takeaways from the technology mission included:
👉Tanikala ng Pagkakaisa MPC gained valuable best practices and practical solutions in fulfilling market orders and improving their operations.
👉Participating coconut farmers’ cooperatives and associations gained knowledge on the production of coco peat, coco coir, and other coconut-based products, opening opportunities for product development and value-adding.
👉Participants were able to observe actual production processes and exchange insights with established industry players.

DTI Marinduque extendea its appreciation to DTI Quezon for providing valuable assistance in the preparation and implementation of the technology mission, contributing to a meaningful learning experience for the participants.

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)–Quezon, in coordination with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Tagkawayan conducted a Bamboo Benchmarking Learning Tour on September 22, 2026. The activity, also participated by Tagkawayan Bamboo Crafters and MSMEs from Pagbilao, featured visits to the DENR-ERDB Compound and the DOST-FPRDI Compound in Los Baños, Laguna. The learning tour provided participants with an opportunity to gain valuable insights and explore best practices in bamboo production, utilization, product development, science and technology, and industry promotion.

During the visit to the DENR-ERDB Compound, participants explored the Los Baños Experimental Station (LBES) site, where they were introduced to various bamboo species and brief training/demonstration sessions on bamboo propagation and utilization. They also toured the Rattan and Bamboo Showroom and learned about the production of DENR bamboo charcoal briquettes.

At the DOST-FPRDI Compound, participants visited the Forest Products Innovation Center, where they explored various bamboo products and innovations, including musical instruments, furniture, and crafts, as well as bamboo-based science and technology innovations such as soap, facial serum, lotion, and other agricultural applications. The activity also provided an opportunity for knowledge-sharing and networking among bamboo stakeholders, allowing participants to learn from existing practices and explore potential opportunities for collaboration and product development.

The activity aims to strengthen knowledge and promote the development of the local bamboo industry through learning, collaboration, and the adoption of innovative and sustainable practices.

Naglatag ng kanilang mga business idea ang 25 kabataang taga-Candelaria, Quezon sa Youth Entrepreneurship Program: Be Your Own Boss o YEP! BYOB Business Pitching Competition katuwang ang DTI Quezon.

Siyam na grupo ang lumahok sa kompetisyon, kung saan pitong grupo ang binuo ng tig-tatlong miyembro at dalawang grupo ang may tig-dalawang miyembro. Iniharap ng bawat grupo ang kanilang mga iminungkahing produkto o serbisyo sa dalawang judging panel at sumagot sa mga tanong kaugnay ng kanilang business concepts.

Layunin ng aktibidad na mabigyan ang mga kabataan ng pagkakataong magamit ang kanilang kaalaman sa entrepreneurship sa pagbuo at presentasyon ng mga business idea, habang nahahasa ang kanilang kumpiyansa, teamwork at entrepreneurial skills.
