The Bahandi Eastern Visayas Trade Fair is set to showcase the regionโ€™s products from Oct. 1 to 5 at Trade Hall B, 5th Level, Mega B, SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City.

With a month to go before the trade fair, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Eastern Visayas has launched an early countdown to the five-day event.

A total of 96 micro, small and medium enterprises from Leyte, Southern Leyte, Biliran, Samar, Eastern Samar and Northern Samar will showcase their best products ranging from fashion and handicrafts to furniture and culinary specialties. (MMP, with DTI Southern Leyte)

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) โ€“ Southern Leyte 2nd District Engineering Office (DEO) informs the public that Ilag Bridge along the Daang Maharlika Road in Liloan, Southern Leyte, will be temporarily closed to all types of vehicles on September 2, 2026, from 8:30 AM - 11:30 AM and 1:30 PM - 4:30 PM.

The bridge will remain open to traffic outside the designated closure schedule.

The temporary closure is necessary to facilitate the launching of girders for the bridge widening project and to ensure the safety of the public.

What began as an effort to provide an alternative livelihood for fisherfolk during the southwest monsoon season has grown into a community-based enterprise that now provides both income opportunities and affordable food to residents of this coastal town.

The local government unit of Macrohon recently opened its third Kadiwa sa Macrohon outlet, expanding access to quality, reasonably priced pork while creating a steady market for hogs raised by members of the Macrohon Area Producers Cooperative (MAPC).

Residents of Macrohon will soon have greater access to fresh and reasonably priced local products as the Kadiwa sa Macrohon opens on Saturday, August 29, at Purok Candelaria, Barangay Ichon.

The opening is being welcomed by the Municipal Government of Macrohon as part of its efforts to strengthen partnerships with local producers and cooperatives.

The store will offer various pork cuts, including liempo, pork chops, and sinugba cuts, providing consumers with fresh products sourced directly from local producers at fair and accessible prices, according to the LGU.

Operated by the Macrohon Area Producers Cooperative (MAPC), the Kadiwa sa Macrohon aims to support local producers while providing the community with quality goods at reasonable prices.

The City Government of Maasin has turned over โ‚ฑ1.5 million to the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Southern Leyte Chapter to provide safety cards and membership accident insurance for frontliners across the cityโ€™s 70 barangays.

Mayor Luz Mercado said the assistance covers Community-Based Accredited Disaster Volunteers (CBADVs), city responders, street cleaners, garbage collectors, and drivers who work to keep Maasin City safe, clean, and resilient.
