The Local Government Unit of Maasin City has announced the resumption of 5-day (8 a.m.-5 p.m.) workweek beginning June 1.

"While regular office operations are restored, austerity and energy conservation measures will continue to be observed to ensure the efficient and responsible use of government resources. Executive order will follow," the city LGU said in it social media post. (MMP, with City Government of Maasin)

Beneath the clear waters of Sogod Bay, divers encountered vibrant coral gardens, sea turtles gliding freely, and schools of colorful fish weaving through the currents—moments that left participants of the three-day Sogod Bay Underwater Experience both inspired and hopeful for the future of marine tourism in Eastern Visayas.

For many diving enthusiasts, the event was more than just an underwater adventure. It was also a reminder of the need to protect the fragile ecosystems that continue to draw local and foreign visitors to Southern Leyte.

A total of 533 Maasin City beneficiaries—394 rice farmers and 139 fisherfolk—received financial assistance under the Presidential Assistance for Farmers and Fisherfolk Program (PAFFP) during the first batch release held at the city gymnasium on May 22.

The activity, through the Office of the City Agriculturist, is part of the national government’s continuing support program for the agriculture and fisheries sectors under President Marcos Jr.’s administration.
