PEACE GAINS IN CENTRAL LUZON: 115 WITHDRAW, 38 GUNS SURRENDERED

The Philippine National Police (PNP) reported that 115 individuals have formally withdrawn their support from a communist-linked group, while 38 fi****ms were voluntarily surrendered during a recent peace and reintegration activity in Central Luzon.

The development marks another step forward in the government’s intensified efforts to end local insurgency, aligned with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to strengthen peace and security through a whole-of-nation approach.

During the activity, participants publicly renounced their support for armed struggle and affirmed their commitment to live peacefully under the law. The turnover of fi****ms served as a clear sign of their decision to move away from violence and start anew.

Chief PNP, Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., said the move reflects a growing trust of communities in government efforts.

“Ang ganitong hakbang ay malinaw na patunay na mas pinipili ng ating mga kababayan ang kapayapaan kaysa sa karahasan. This shows that our message is reaching the ground—that there is a better path forward,” he said.

He emphasized that the PNP will continue to support those who choose to return to the fold of the law.

“Hindi dito nagtatapos ang lahat. We will make sure they are guided, supported, and given opportunities to rebuild their lives. Peace is not just about laying down arms—it’s about giving people a real chance to move forward,” PGen Nartatez added.

Alongside the withdrawal activity, government agencies delivered basic services such as medical assistance and livelihood support to help reintegrate former supporters into their communities.

The PNP also reiterated its call to remaining members of armed groups to abandon violence and take advantage of government programs.

“Sa mga natitira pa, bukas ang gobyerno para sa inyo. Huwag nating sayangin ang pagkakataon para sa mapayapang kinabukasan. Violence only brings harm—not just to you, but to your families and communities,” PGen Nartatez said.

Authorities assured continued monitoring and community engagement to prevent a return to illegal activities, while strengthening programs that address the root causes of insurgency.

This accomplishment is in line with the PNP Focused Agenda, particularly under Enhanced Managing Police Operations, which highlights intelligence-driven and community-supported strategies in maintaining peace and order.

As the PNP sustains its momentum in securing communities and building trust, it remains committed to a safer and more peaceful nation—Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman.

METRO MANILA VIOLATIONS DROP AS PUBLIC AWARENESS AND COMPLIANCE IMPROVE

The Philippine National Police (PNP) reported a continued decline in ordinance violations under the Safer Cities initiative, with data from April 14, 2026 showing fewer incidents across Metro Manila compared with the early days of implementation.

A total of 7,708 violations were recorded for the day, lower than the 11,000 to 13,000 daily cases logged during the initial rollout. Police said the decrease suggests that more residents are becoming familiar with local rules and choosing to comply.

The Southern Police District recorded 1,996 cases, followed by the Northern Police District with 1,779, Quezon City Police District with 1,678, Manila Police District with 1,268, and Eastern Police District with 987.

Public drinking and smoking violations remained the most common at 2,125 cases. Other recorded incidents included minors violating curfew at 438, roaming without shirts at 155, karaoke beyond allowed hours at 32, and 4,958 other ordinance-related violations.

Most cases were settled on-site, with 4,365 individuals warned and released, 3,213 fined, and 130 facing charges depending on the circumstances.

PNP Chief, Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., said the numbers show encouraging progress but stressed that the goal is safer and more orderly communities, not punishment.

“Mas mababa na ang bilang kumpara sa mga unang araw. Ibig sabihin, mas marami ang nakakaunawa sa mga alituntunin at mas pinipiling sumunod. Iyan ang gusto nating makita,” he said.

He added that police presence and regular reminders are meant to guide communities and prevent problems before they happen.

“Hindi lang ito tungkol sa pagpapatupad ng batas. Tungkol ito sa pagbuo ng kaayusan at respeto sa kapwa sa ating mga komunidad. Kapag sama-sama tayong sumusunod, lahat ang nakikinabang,” PGEN Nartatez said.

The ongoing operations support the broader peace and order agenda of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and Secretary of the Interior and Local Government Juanito Victor C. Remulla, with focus on safer streets, responsible public behavior, and orderly communities.

The PNP urged the public to continue observing local ordinances, respect shared spaces, and work with authorities in keeping neighborhoods peaceful and safe.

The PNP reaffirmed its commitment to the vision of a Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman, as it continues to strengthen law enforcement operations nationwide.
