𝐏𝐇𝐈𝐋𝐈𝐏𝐏𝐈𝐍𝐄 𝐂𝐎𝐀𝐒𝐓 𝐆𝐔𝐀𝐑𝐃 | 𝐂𝐆𝐒𝐒 𝐌𝐀𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐎𝐆 𝐅𝐀𝐂𝐈𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐒 𝐖𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐒𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐂𝐇 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐂𝐔𝐄 (𝐖𝐀𝐒𝐀𝐑) TRAINING OF MDDRMO MAHINOG

In response to the request of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of Mahinog, the Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Mahinog, headed by LTJG CARLO A. ORTIZO, PCG, successfully facilitated the Water Search and Rescue (WASAR) Training for the Municipal Response Team on 22 July 2026 at the Lagoon, Brgy. Benoni, Mahinog, Camiguin, in preparation for the Provincial-Level Culmination Activities of the National Disaster Resilience Month 2026.

The said training consisted of rubber boat capsizing drills, rescue swimming, and other practical WASAR exercises, designed to enhance the participants’ technical knowledge, water rescue skills, operational readiness, emergency response capabilities and team coordination. Through hands-on instruction and technical guidance from PCG personnel, the Municipal Response Team further strengthened its ability to respond efficiently and safely to water-related emergencies.

This initiative underscores the Philippine Coast Guard’s commitment to developing competent first responders and promoting disaster preparedness through continuous capability enhancement. It also reflects the importance of strong inter-agency collaboration among the Philippine Coast Guard, MDRRMO Mahinog, and the Local Government Unit of Mahinog in building a well-trained, coordinated, and highly responsive rescue force capable of protecting lives and ensuring public safety.

Sailing in Faith: CGSS Mahinog Secures the Feast Day Fluvial Parade!

Today, in celebration of the Feast Day of Patron Saints St. Peter and St. Paul, the Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Mahinog, headed by LTJG CARLO A ORTIZO PCG, Sub-Station Commander, rendered security assistance during the conduct of the Fluvial Parade in the vicinity waters off Brgy. Benoni, Mahinog, Camiguin Province.
The annual fluvial parade is a meaningful expression of faith, thanksgiving, and devotion, particularly among coastal communities who honor St. Peter as the patron saint of fishermen and seafarers.

This religious tradition strengthens community unity, preserves cultural heritage, and fosters spiritual reflection among the faithful. To ensure the safe and orderly conduct of the activity, CGSS Mahinog personnel maintained heightened maritime security and safety measures, providing close monitoring and immediate response capabilities throughout the event.

The presence of the Philippine Coast Guard played a vital role in safeguarding the lives of participants and spectators, preventing maritime incidents, and promoting public confidence during the celebration.

2ND QUARTER JOINT MPOC, MADAC, LCPC, AND LCAT-VAWC MEETING

Personnel of Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Mahinog, under the leadership of LTJG CARLO A ORTIZO PCG, participated in the 2nd Quarter Joint MPOC, MADAC, LCPC, and LCAT-VAWC Meeting held at Queobe Restaurant, Brgy. San Miguel, Mahinog, Camiguin.

During the meeting, CGSS Mahinog presented updates on the Philippine Coast Guard's maritime safety and security initiatives and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Municipality of Mahinog in promoting peace and order, public safety, and community resilience.

Representatives from the LGU, PNP, BFP, BJMP, PDEA, DILG, MSWDO, Parole and Probation Office, and Barangay Officials also attended the activity to discuss updates and strengthen inter-agency coordination on peace and order, anti-illegal drugs, child protection, anti-trafficking, and other priority government programs.

CGSS Mahinog remains committed to fostering strong partnerships with government agencies and stakeholders in ensuring a safe, secure, and resilient maritime community through responsive public service and effective collaboration.

HONORING OUR FREEDOM, SERVING OUR NATION.

Today, 12 June 2026, the personnel of Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Mahinog, together with MEPERU Camiguin, Sea Marshall Unit, and CGK9 Team Camiguin, proudly participated the Flag Raising Ceremony in celebration of the 128th Philippine Independence Day held at the Municipality of Mahinog, Camiguin.

In addition, the PCG personnel also rendered honors to the National Ensign at the Port of Benoni and Coast Guard Sub-Station Mahinog, led by LTJG CARLO A ORTIZO PCG, PCG, Sub-Station Commander, CGSS Mahinog. As members of the Philippine Coast Guard, we commemorate this historic day with pride and gratitude, remembering the courage and sacrifices of our heroes who secured the freedom we enjoy in the present.

Their legacy inspires us to remain steadfast in our mission of safeguarding our maritime domain and serving the Filipino people with honor and dedication. May this celebration strengthen our patriotism and remind every Filipino that freedom is both a privilege and a responsibility.

CGSS MAHINOG MARCHES IN HONOR OF MAHINOG’S 156TH ANNUAL FIESTA.

The Municipality of Mahinog once again proudly celebrates its 156th Annual Town Fiesta on 07 and 08 May 2026, a meaningful occasion that reflects the rich culture, unity, and traditions of the community. As part of the celebration, the Grand Civic Parade was successfully held today, 06 May 2026, gathering the active participation of various government agencies, private sectors, and local organizations within the municipality.

Among the participants was the Coast Guard Sub-Station Mahinog (CGSS Mahinog), headed by LTJG CARLO A. ORTIZO PCG, together with the CGK9 Team, MEPERU Camiguin, and Sea Marshall Unit. Their presence highlighted the Philippine Coast Guard’s unwavering dedication to community service, public safety, and support to local government initiatives.

The Grand Civic Parade served as a symbol of solidarity and cooperation among all sectors, making this year’s fiesta celebration more vibrant and memorable. LOOK: CGSS Mahinog, together with CGSS Catarman, CGSS Guinsiliban, Marine Environmental Protection Unit – Camiguin and other OPCON Units, in coordination with the Barangay Officials of Brgy. San Roque, Mahinog, Camiguin, successfully conducted a simultaneous Mangrove Planting Activity at the coastal area of Brgy. San Roque, Mahinog, Camiguin Province today, March 15, 2026, in line with the 27th Pre-Anniversary Celebration of Coast Guard District Northern Mindanao (CGDNM). The activity covered approximately five hundred (500) square meters of coastal area where a total of 100 mangrove propagules were planted.

This activity highlights the importance of protecting our coastal environment and strengthening community participation in environmental conservation. Mangroves serve as natural barriers that protect coastal communities from storm surges and erosion, while also providing a vital habitat for marine life that supports the livelihood of local fishermen.

Through this initiative, the Philippine Coast Guard and the local community reaffirm their commitment to preserving marine ecosystems and promoting a safer, greener, and more resilient coastal community for future generations.

LOOK: CGSS MAHINOG actively participated in the 1st Quarter National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) last March 12, 2026, as part of our commitment to safety, preparedness, and disaster response readiness.

Through the conduct of the earthquake drill procedure, personnel were able to practice proper actions during seismic emergencies such as “Duck, Cover, and Hold,” orderly evacuation, and accountability of personnel. Regular drills like this help strengthen coordination, improve response time, and ensure that everyone knows what to do in case a real earthquake occurs.

Preparedness today, Saves lives tomorrow. CGSS MAHINOG remains committed in promoting safety, awareness, and resilience in the community.
