LOOK: CGSS Mahinog, together with CGSS Catarman, CGSS Guinsiliban, Marine Environmental Protection Unit – Camiguin and other OPCON Units, in coordination with the Barangay Officials of Brgy. San Roque, Mahinog, Camiguin, successfully conducted a simultaneous Mangrove Planting Activity at the coastal area of Brgy. San Roque, Mahinog, Camiguin Province today, March 15, 2026, in line with the 27th Pre-Anniversary Celebration of Coast Guard District Northern Mindanao (CGDNM). The activity covered approximately five hundred (500) square meters of coastal area where a total of 100 mangrove propagules were planted.
This activity highlights the importance of protecting our coastal environment and strengthening community participation in environmental conservation. Mangroves serve as natural barriers that protect coastal communities from storm surges and erosion, while also providing a vital habitat for marine life that supports the livelihood of local fishermen.
Through this initiative, the Philippine Coast Guard and the local community reaffirm their commitment to preserving marine ecosystems and promoting a safer, greener, and more resilient coastal community for future generations.
