𝚂𝚝𝚛𝚎𝚗𝚐𝚝𝚑𝚎𝚗𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝙶𝚎𝚗𝚍𝚎𝚛-𝚁𝚎𝚜𝚙𝚘𝚗𝚜𝚒𝚟𝚎 𝚃𝚘𝚞𝚛𝚒𝚜𝚖 𝙿𝚕𝚊𝚗𝚗𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝚏𝚘𝚛 𝙵𝚈 2027

In line with the annual preparation and submission of the Gender and Development (GAD) Plans and Budgets (GPB) for Fiscal Year 2027, the Department of Tourism (DOT), through its GAD Focal Point System (GFPS) Secretariat, conducted the FY 2027 GAD Plan and Budget (GPB) Workshop on 8–9 September 2026 in Makati City.

DOT - Office of Special Concerns (OSC) Assistant Secretary Gissela Romualdez-Quisumbing opened the two-day workshop which brought together TourISM WoRCS officers from the different regions and key members of the DOT GFPS. The workshop provided a venue to strengthen their technical knowledge and skills in the preparation of the GAD Plan and Budget, including GAD Program/Project Attribution, and to discuss the latest GAD policies and guidelines.

The workshop also facilitated the presentation, review, and assessment of the participants’ draft FY 2027 GPBs, with valuable comments and recommendations from the resource speaker, Ms. Jemelle Zamora-Milanes, GAD Consultant, to further enhance the proposed programs, projects, and activities.

It was a fruitful two days of learning, collaboration, and meaningful discussions as DOT’s GAD advocates worked toward more gender-responsive programs and initiatives for FY 2027. The workshop concluded with ways forward and actionable recommendations to further strengthen the Department’s GAD planning and implementation.

The Department of Tourism joins the nation in observing National Indigenous Peoples Day, honoring the rich cultures, traditions, and invaluable contributions of the country's Indigenous Cultural Communities/Indigenous Peoples (ICCs/IPs).

Indigenous Peoples are the custodians of centuries-old traditions, languages, arts, craftsmanship, knowledge systems, and cultural landscapes that make the Philippines a truly unique tourism destination. Their heritage enriches the Filipino identity and offers meaningful experiences that connect visitors with our nation's diverse cultures.

The DOT Gender and Development Focal Point System (GFPS) Secretariat continues to advocate for initiatives that foster respect for cultural diversity, empower Indigenous communities, and promote tourism that benefits both present and future generations.

The DOT-GFPS Secretariat joins the celebration of National Anti-Trafficking Awareness Month.

The Department's continuous conduct of nationwide awareness seminars, led by TourISM WoRCS Officers on the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act, reinforces a vital message that trafficking in persons has no place in the tourism industry.

In line with the Pride Month celebration, the DOT-GFPS Secretariat, in partnership with the Philippine Financial & Inter-Industry Pride (PFIP), successfully conducted the seminar “SOGIE 101: Understanding Diverse Identities Relating to the Workplace and Empowering Allies” on June 24, 2026 (Wednesday), at the DOT 2nd Floor Training Room. The seminar provided participants with a deeper understanding of Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Expression (SOGIE), fostering awareness, respect, and inclusivity in the workplace.

The seminar featured two interactive sessions. The first session focused on the fundamentals of SOGIE, introducing key concepts and terminologies, as well as workplace scenarios that encouraged participants to apply inclusive and respectful practices as colleagues and leaders. The second session centered on allyship, highlighting practical ways to support LGBTQIA+ individuals and creating opportunities for meaningful group discussions on how employees can become effective allies in promoting a safe, respectful, and inclusive work environment for all.

In line with the National Tourism Development Plan (NTDP), the enhancement of the overall tourism experience requires that every traveler regardless of gender identity, gender expression, or sexual orientation feels safe, respected, valued, and welcomed wherever their journey takes them. By fostering inclusive tourism spaces, we create destinations where everyone can experience the beauty of our country with dignity and confidence.

The Department of Tourism likewise reaffirms its commitment to inclusivity through its Gender and Development Agenda, particularly in promoting an equitable and inclusive workplace for all. As an ally of the LGBTQIA+ community, we continue to champion policies and programs that uphold diversity, respect, and equal opportunities. This Pride Month, we stand in solidarity with the LGBTQIA+ community and celebrate the contributions they make in building a more inclusive tourism sector and a more compassionate society.
