The Land Transportation Office (LTO) Region VII reenforces its directive to all accredited dealers to ensure the timely release of license plates to motor vehicle owners.

Under the Memorandum dated September 1, 2026, dealers are reminded that license plates for initially registered vehicles must be released to the MV/MC owners simultaneously with the issuance of the Official Receipt and Certificate of Registration (OR/CR), without exceptionโ€”even when the plates are routed through the dealerโ€™s liaison.

LTO 7 will strictly enforce the 7-day processing period from the date of sale to the release of plates, and emphasizes that it will not tolerate practices that unnecessarily delay the delivery of plates to the public.

RD Dinglasan said that dealers found violating this directive may face corresponding sanctions, including suspension or cancellation of their Certificate of Accreditation and fines of up to โ‚ฑ1,000,000, as may be applicable.

The public is hereby encouraged to file complaints in the LTO-7 Office of the Regional Office regarding any delayed release of plates by their dealers.

The Land Transportation Office Region VII (LTO-7) continues to strengthen its information dissemination campaign as part of its law enforcement efforts on August 28, 2026, to ensure that motorists are properly informed of the upcoming strict implementation of guidelines on motor vehicle plates, which will take effect on September 1, 2026.

As part of the activity, vehicles found using temporary plates, improvised plates, and green plates issued for replacement were stopped and given the necessary reminders on compliance with the prescribed plate guidelines.

Affected vehicle owners were likewise advised to monitor and follow up on the availability of their physical plates through the LTO-7 Plate Spotter, which allows them to check whether their plates are already available and determine where they may be claimed.

LTO-7 urges all motorists and vehicle owners to comply with the prescribed plate guidelines to avoid possible apprehension for violations.

CEBU CITY โ€” The Land Transportation Office (LTO) Region 7 proves that its mission extends beyond road enforcement and roadside inspections. At its core, the agency remains dedicated to compassionate public service.

On August 24, 2026, members of the Field Enforcement Unit were conducting a routine roadside inspection in Talisay City when they were alerted to a taxi carrying a woman in labor. Recognizing the critical urgency and the heavy traffic ahead, Law Enforcement Officer Johnny B. Cella immediately activated the patrol vehicleโ€™s siren and blinkers to clear a path, signaling the taxi to follow closely behind.

Despite dense traffic congestion along the route, the team successfully escorted the vehicle to a birthing facility in Barangay Kamputhaw, Cebu City, in time for a safe delivery. Upon their arrival, a attending nurse remarked, "Hay, pasalamat jud mo nahatod mo sa ambulansiya kay di jud unta kaabot si maam" (Youโ€™re lucky you were escorted by the [LTO patrol car], or she wouldn't have made it in time).

"Ours is a service to the public. We enforce our mandate to save lives and, in cases like this, to assist the people of Region 7 in every way we can," stated LTO Region 7 Regional Director Wendel C. Dinglasan.

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) Region 7 has preventively suspended the driverโ€™s license of a motorist involved in a viral altercation showing an alleged physical confrontation between two motorcycle riders.

A video posted on Facebook on August 18, 2026 shows one motorcycle rider allegedly striking another rider after both motorcycles stopped in the middle of the road. The video also captures an alleged verbal threat during the confrontation.

Following the circulation of the video, LTO-7 issued a Show Cause Order directing the concerned driver to appear before the Intelligence and Investigation Unit (IIU), Operations Division, and submit a verified explanation and supporting evidence within five (5) days from receipt of the Order.

While the administrative case is being investigated, LTO-7 directed a surrender of the driver's license and imposed a preventive suspension on the driverโ€™s license without prejudice to the final determination of administrative liability after due investigation and hearing.

LTO-7 stresses that aggressive and violent behavior on public roads endangers not only the individuals directly involved but also other motorists, passengers, pedestrians, and the riding public.
