PRESS RELEASE | NBI INAUGURATES NEW BICOL REGIONAL TRAINING CENTER
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) officially inaugurated its new Bicol Regional Office (BRO) and Training Center on May 21, 2026, marking a significant milestone in strengthening the Bureauโs operational and training capabilities in the Bicol Region.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by NBI Director Atty. Melvin A. Matibag, together with the Deputy Director for Operation, Deputy Director for Administration, Assistant Director for Intelligence, Assistant Director for Information and Communication Technology Service, Assistant Director for Comptroller and BRO Regional Director Atty. Yehlen Agus. Also present were former BRO Regional Directors Atty. Claro De Castro, ARD Olivo Ramos and RD Paterno Morales.
Joining the occasion were distinguished government officials, including Hon. Alfredo Garbin, Representative of Ako Bicol Party-list; Hon. Hisham B. Ismail, Mayor of Legazpi City; Hon. Jerold Peรฑa, Municipal Mayor of San Jose, Partido, Camarines Sur; and other LGU Officials of Bicol region, and Regional Directors from different Regional Offices of Bicol.
The program was held at the Training Center Auditorium and was highlighted by the ribbon-cutting ceremony led by key officials, followed by the unveiling of the commemorative marker and the blessing of the new facility.
In his inspirational message, Director Matibag expressed his sincere appreciation to Congressman Alfredo Garbin of Ako Bicol Party-list for their support and sponsorship of funding for the construction of NBI facilities in the Bicol Region. The Director likewise announced that the Bicol Training Center will be renamed as NBI Academy in Legazpi City, which is envisioned to become a premier training institution where future NBI agents, investigators, and leaders will be developed and prepared for public service.
The inauguration of the new Bicol Regional Office and Training Center reflects the NBI's commitment to strengthening its regional presence, improving operational readiness, and advancing excellence in law enforcement through quality training and modern infrastructure.
