Philippine Ambassador to China Jaime FlorCruz highlighted how Filipino values, attitude, and upbringing have helped Filipinos succeed in China. 🇵🇭🇨🇳

“Not made in China, but made it in China,” Ambassador FlorCruz said, referring to the 50+ Filipinos featured in the Philippine Embassy in Beijing’s online series and book, which showcase ordinary Filipinos doing extraordinary work in their respective fields—from engineers and teachers to students and musicians.

The online series and book came out in 2025 as part of the Philippine Embassy in Beijing’s commemoration of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and China.

In an exclusive sit-down interview with The Philippine STAR, Philippine Ambassador to China Jaime FlorCruz stressed how Filipino attitude and upbringing helped Filipinos to be successful in their respective fields in China.

“Not made in China, but made it in China, meaning succeeded in China. And these are 50 Filipinos, ordinary Filipinos, doing extraordinary deeds in their respective jobs and locations, from engineers to teachers, students, musicians,” FlorCruz shared.

Adding,”Filipinos, training or upbringing as responsible, respectful, reliable people, I think that shows in their jobs, and that's why they are so much appreciated by their Chinese hosts here. I think we are very patient and very cheerful, and responsible people. We are loyal to people who treat us well, and I think that is appreciated by their employers that's why we fit in this society quite well, and that's why we succeed here.”

book is a special publication by the Philippine Embassy in Beijing to mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and China last year.
