24 JULY 2026 | LEGAL EDUCATION FOR WOMEN PDLs

The Public Attorney’s Office – Manila District Office (Division B ), through Atty. Kate Pearl L. Hizon and Atty. Shahera Valdez, conducted a series of legal lectures for the women Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) at the Female Dormitory.

The lectures covered Different Modes of Release, the Safe Spaces Act, the Magna Carta of Women, and the Anti-VAWC Law, providing the participants with practical knowledge on their rights, legal protections, and available remedies under the law.

Beyond the legal discussions, the PAO Manila lawyers also took the opportunity to share a few quotes and words of wisdom from Chief Public Attorney Dr. Persida V. Rueda-Acosta, DSD, JD’s newly launched book, “Laws of Life,” adding a few simple reminders and reflections that everyone could take with them beyond the lecture.

The activity was an avenue not only for legal education, but also for meaningful conversations, reminders, and encouragement as the women PDLs continue their journey toward rehabilitation and reintegration.

The Public Attorney’s Office remains committed to bringing legal education closer to those who need it most and making the law more accessible to all.
