Peace Through Unity, Dialogue, and Community Solidarity

A significant step toward peace and reconciliation was achieved through the successful settlement of a Rido (Clan Conflict) in Barangay Buenavista, Municipality of Balabagan, Lanao del Sur.

This peaceful settlement was initiated by the current administration of the Local Government Unit of Balabagan, through the collective efforts and unwavering support of our Men in Uniform, the Ulama, Sultans and Elders, community leaders, and the people of Barangay Buenavista.

The process was further strengthened by the full support of the Provincial Government of Lanao del Sur, demonstrating the shared commitment of our local and provincial leaders to promote peace, protect communities, and resolve conflicts through dialogue, understanding, and traditional mechanisms of reconciliation.

This accomplishment reminds us that lasting peace is built not by division, but through unity, mutual respect, forgiveness, and the willingness of both sides to come together for the greater good of the community.

May this settlement serve as a testament that dialogue can heal wounds, reconciliation can restore relationships, and collective action can bring lasting peace.

From conflict to reconciliation. From division to unity. From rido to peace.

Alhamdulillah for this meaningful milestone toward a more peaceful and united Barangay Buenavista and Municipality of Balabagan.

Today, we honor not only the settlement of a Rido or family feud, but more importantly, the courage of families who chose to lay down anger, heal old wounds, and open their hearts to the possibility of peace.

The journey toward reconciliation is never easy. It requires patience, understanding, humility, and the willingness to listen even when the pain runs deep. Yet through the collective efforts of our leaders, security forces, traditional authorities, religious scholars, and most especially the families themselves, a path toward peace, forgiveness, and renewed brotherhood has been made possible in the Municipality of Pagayawan.

Our deepest gratitude and special thanks to Hon. Mayor Khalida D. Polao and the Local Government Unit of Pagayawan for their steadfast commitment and tireless efforts in bringing the families together.

We also extend our heartfelt appreciation to our beloved Provincial Governor Dr. Mamintal β€œBombit” Alonto Adiong, Jr. and Vice Governor Mohammad Khalid β€œMujam” Raki-in Adiong for their strong and unwavering support for peace and reconciliation in our communities.

Our sincere thanks as well to the AFP and PNP, our Traditional Leaders, Ulama, and to every individual and institution who worked quietly and tirelessly behind the scenes to make this Rido settlement possible.

This is more than the end of a conflict. It is the beginning of healing. It is a reminder that no family feud is too deep to be addressed when people choose dialogue over division, forgiveness over revenge, and peace over pain.

May this settlement become a light of hope for other families and communities facing similar struggles. May the wounds of the past slowly become scars that remind us not of hatred, but of how far we have come together.

Peace is not simply the absence of conflict it is the presence of understanding, forgiveness, and hope.

May Allah bless the families who chose reconciliation, the leaders who guided them, and everyone who continues to work for lasting peace in Pagayawan and throughout Lanao del Sur.

Together, we heal. Together, we forgive. Together, we build peace.
