Meet Dr. Ramos, an associate member of the NRCP Division of Engineering and Industrial Research, a distinguished civil engineer and an environmental planner whose academic journey spans the globe.

🎓 Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Environmental Engineering – University of Queensland, Australia
🎓 Postgraduate Program in Urban Planning – Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand

He currently serves as the 9th President of the Technological University of the Philippines (TUP).

Dr. Ramos’ research focuses on river system management, urban and land use planning, green building, GIS applications, alternative construction materials, mixed-use development, urban renewal, waste and water treatment systems, database management, and quality assurance.

Scientists from DOST–NRCP discovered fruit bats, tarsiers, and even a potentially new kind of rat (Rattus sp.) that may have adapted to life among the mangroves! 🐀🌊

Their research shows just how important mangrove forests are, not only for coastal protection, but also as safe havens for amazing wildlife. 💚

Raw (unpasteurized) milk can carry Campylobacter, a bacteria that may cause diarrhea and, in rare cases, Guillain-Barré syndrome, a nerve illness that can lead to muscle weakness. 🦠

A recent DOST-NRCP study using gene sequencing 🔬 discovered 10 different bacterial strains in raw carabao’s milk, including Acinetobacter, E. coli, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. These microbes compete with Campylobacter, making it harder to detect early on.

The study’s findings will help improve testing and safety protocols to protect both consumers and farmers.

Factors such as temperature, salinity, and nutrients can cause unpredictable shifts in their behavior, which may affect fisheries, carbon cycling, and overall ocean health.

Ipinapakita ng resulta na ang telecommuting ay nangangailangan ng customized na approach na isinasaalang-alang ang kultura, trabaho, empleyado, at teknolohiya upang maging epektibo.💡

Ang mga natuklasan ay nagsisilbing mahalagang gabay para sa mga ahensya ng gobyerno sa pagdisenyo ng kanilang mga remote work programs. 🏛️💻📣
