Wika at Kalikasan, Pinag-isa ng CENRO Guimbal!🌱

Matagumpay na ipinagdiwang ng CENRO Guimbal ang Buwan ng Wika sa pamamagitan ng isang espesyal na kaganapan na naglalayong pag-isahin ang ating lokal na kultura at ang mandato sa pangangalaga ng kapaligiran. Sa pamamagitan ng malikhaing pagtatampok sa apat na elemento ng kalikasan (Tubig, Apoy, Lupa, at Hangin) gamit ang tula at trivia, muling pinagtibay ng buong tanggapan ang dedikasyon nito sa kalikasan gamit ang ating pambansang wika.

Layunin ng inisyatibang ito na parangalan ang pambansang wika habang kasabay na pinagtitibay ang pangangalaga sa kapaligiran sa mga empleyado. Sa pamamagitan ng pagsasanib ng lokal na pamana at mga konsepto sa kapaligiran, lumikha ang tanggapan ng isang nakakahimok na plataporma upang balikan ang pangunahing mandato nito na protektahan ang likas na yaman.

Nagsimula ang pagdiriwang kaagad pagkatapos ng tradisyunal na Seremonya ng Pagpapataas ng Watawat noong Lunes ng umaga, Agosto 24, 2026. Opisyal na nagbukas ang programa sa pamamagitan ng isang maikling palatuntunan na idinisenyo upang ilatag ang tema at mga layunin para sa araw na iyon.

Kasunod ng pambungad na bahagi, lumipat ang mga tauhan sa isang interaktibong aktibidad para sa team-building na tinatawag na Pass the Ball Game. Kinailangan sa mekaniks na ipasa ng mga kalahok ang bola sa bawat isa, at kung sino man ang humahawak nito kapag huminto ang musika ay kailangang magtanghal nang mabilis. Ang mga napiling tauhan ay naghatid ng iba't ibang pagtatanghal na nakasentro sa kalikasan kabilang ang mga tula, katotohanan tungkol sa kapaligiran, at mga trivia ukol sa kalikasan. Ang mga pagtatanghal na ito ay direktang nakaangkla sa mga tiyak na elemento ng kalikasan na naunang itinalaga sa kanilang kani-kanilang mga seksyon:
• RPS: Tubig
• CDS: Apoy
• Admin, Planning & Records: Lupa
• MES: Hangin

Bago ang mismong araw ng pagtatapos, ang lahat ng empleyado ng CENRO Guimbal ay inatasan na magsaliksik at maghanda ng mga malikhaing akdang pampanitikan, mga lokal na katotohanan, at kawili-wiling trivia na may kaugnayan sa kanilang itinalagang elemento sa kapaligiran. Ang mga output na ito ay tinipon at ipinangalandakan sa opisyal na Idea Wall. Ang pisikal na eksibisyong ito ay nagsilbing isang sentrong pang-edukasyon para sa mga tauhan upang magbasa, magbahagi, at magpahalaga sa mga lokal na kaalaman sa kapaligiran.

Upang itaguyod ang kalusugan sa lugar ng trabaho, pagtutulungan, at aktibong pisikal na pamumuhay, isang organisadong Zumba Session ang nagsimula sa hapon. Ang aktibong pag-eehersisyo sa pamamagitan ng pagsasayaw ang nagtapos sa buong araw na pagdiriwang, na nagpataas sa moral ng tanggapan at nagpatibay ng pakikisama sa mga tauhan.

Sa kabuuan, matagumpay na nailatag ng CENRO Guimbal ang kahalagahan ng wika bilang tulay sa mas mabuting pangangalaga sa kapaligiran. 🌳DENR-CENRO Guimbal backs Community-Based Coffee Shop and Agri-Eco Tourism Livelihood Project of LGU Tubungan⛰☕

The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Tubungan, under the leadership of Mayor Roquito Tacsagon, through the Municipal Public Employment Service Office (MPESO), in partnership with the Iloilo Provincial Government and the 61st Infantry Battalion, Philippine Army, successfully convened a multi-agency convergence meeting to fast-track its flagship Community-Based Coffee Shop and Agri-Eco Tourism Livelihood Project. Held at the UCCP Hall in Barangay Igtuble on August 12, 2026, the session united key stakeholders—including DENR-CENRO Guimbal—to harmonize resources and finalize institutional commitments for the transformative development in Sitio Maguey, Barangay Igpaho.

Prior to the formal assembly, stakeholders conducted an actual site visit to the proposed project location. This strategic walkthrough allowed technical experts and partners to personally assess site conditions and immediately pitch recommendations to refine the Master Development Plan and land utilization strategies under the Community-Based Forest Management Agreement (CBFMA).

Following a joint field assessment, key municipal leaders, provincial engineers, and environment officials convened to synchronize efforts on the proposed Community-Based Coffee Shop and Agri-Eco Tourism Livelihood Project where For. Liezel B. Arabe, SREMS of CENRO Guimbal, presented the comprehensive Site Map and Land Area Allocation designated for utilization under the Community-Based Forest Management Agreement (CBFMA). Her strategic briefing provided stakeholders, partners, and funding institutions with the exact spatial boundaries and environmental frameworks necessary to ensure the project's long-term sustainability and legal compliance within the timberland zones.

The high-level convergence was led by the Municipal Government of Tubungan under Municipal Mayor Hon. Roquito G. Tacsagon, through the Municipal Public Employment Service Office (MPESO) managed by Mrs. Emelyn E. Tano (MGADH-I).

The initiative achieved strong institutional backing from key co-conveners: The Iloilo Provincial Government, represented by Provincial Administrator Dr. Raul Banias (on behalf of Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr.), who underscored the provincial government's commitment to counterpart funding and localized economic development and the Armed Forces of the Philippines. led by Lt. Col. Jeckyl Jullian Dulawan, Commanding Officer of the 61st Infantry Battalion, ensuring peace, security, and community integration frameworks are met.

Following a welcome address by Barangay Igtuble Punong Barangay Hon. Rommel Miciano, the presentation baseline was set by Ms. Marjorie Tacardon (Municipal Agriculturist), who mapped out the economic potentials and hurdles of Tubungan's local coffee sector. Mrs. Emelyn Tano subsequently pitched the operational goals of the Community-Based Coffee Shop, while the Iloilo Provincial Engineering Office rolled out the macro Master Development Plan.

The subsequent open forum, moderated by Mrs. Luna Bela-ong (IPG-LEDIP), generated a massive wave of commitments from national line agencies and private sector partners, including: DENR, DA, DOLE, DTI, TESDA, DSWD, NCIP, PPDO, PAGRO, PGENRO, Iloilo Coffee Council, Peace and Equity Foundation, PCCI, OPTO, LEDIP, the Igtuble Farmers Association, Inc. (IFAI) and the FRIENDS–Tubungan Chapter, represented by its President, Ms. Jenamie Tacanloy, who closed the ceremony with an expression of grassroots gratitude.

The initiative serves as a multi-sectoral strategy designed to generate local income, process and promote indigenous coffee yields, and establish a permanent anchor for the municipality's expanding agri-eco tourism sector.

With DENR-CENRO Guimbal’s regulatory guidance safeguarding the project's spatial and environmental boundaries, this convergence marks a monumental step toward balancing ecological preservation with aggressive local economic growth. By anchoring the development within a legally sound and sustainable CBFMA framework, LGU Tubungan and its multi-agency partners have ensured that the ancestral land will not only breed socio-economic prosperity for local farmers but will also stand as a resilient, well-preserved template for agri-eco tourism across the Province of Iloilo.

"700 KILONG PLASTIK, GINAWANG 35 ARMCHAIR PARA SA MGA ESTUDYANTE SA ILOILO"

AJUY, ILOILO — Isang magandang halimbawa ng wastong pamamahala ng basura ang ipinakita ng lokal na pamahalaan ng Ajuy matapos gawing 35 matitibay na armchair ang 700 kilo ng nakolektang plastik na basura.

Ang mga armchair ay ipinagkaloob sa Ajuy National High School upang magamit ng mga estudyante sa kanilang pag-aaral.

Naging posible ang proyekto sa pakikipagtulungan ng DENR-Environmental Management Bureau Region VI, Subay Marketing, at Angelina Bakeshop.

Ayon sa DENR, ang inisyatibong ito ay nagpapatunay na ang mga basurang plastik ay maaari pang maging kapaki-pakinabang sa pamamagitan ng recycling at tamang waste management.

Sinabi naman ni DENR Secretary Juan Miguel T. Cuna na mahalagang maitaguyod ang mga programang nagpapakita na ang basura ay maaaring gawing mahalagang yaman para sa komunidad.

Mula sa pagiging dating lumabag sa mga alituntunin sa solid waste management, kinikilala ngayon ang Ajuy bilang huwaran sa pagpapatupad ng mga programang pangkalikasan.

🦅 Wildlife Conservation and Protection🦜

On July 29, 2026, CENRO Guimbal participated in the Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) activity on Wildlife Conservation and Protection held at the KIOCA Building, Brgy. 08, San Miguel, Iloilo.

Spearheaded by the MENRO San Miguel, the activity was attended by barangay captains and officials, MENRO staff, PGENRO staff, and representatives from DENR CENRO Guimbal. During the activity, For. Jojie Gereza and Forest Technician II Mary Faye Tayo discussed the scope, salient provisions, prohibited acts, and penalties under Republic Act No. 9147, otherwise known as the Wildlife Resources Conservation and Protection Act, to strengthen public awareness and encourage compliance with wildlife conservation laws.

A total of 39 participants attended the activity, composed of 16 females and 23 males.

Together, let us continue working hand in hand to protect our wildlife and conserve our rich biodiversity.🌿🦅

🌿 Celebrating the International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem 🌿

In celebration of the International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem, CENRO Guimbal conducted a site assessment on July 27, 2026, in Barangay Cabasi, Guimbal, following coordination with Punong Barangay Hon. Salvador Gomez.

The site assessment documented the existing mangrove area established through the initiative of the Barangay Council in 2018 and sustained through the active participation of the community and other stakeholders. Approximately 300 surviving mangrove trees were documented, consisting of bakhaw-lalaki (Rhizophora apiculata) and bakhaw-babae (Rhizophora mucronata), together with the mangrove associate species bani (Pongamia pinnata) and nipa (Nypa fruticans). The area also supports aquatic resources such as tilapia, tamasak, and mud crabs. The thriving mangroves continue to protect the creek banks from erosion while serving as a natural barrier against storm surges and strong winds.

To further support the barangay's conservation efforts, CENRO Guimbal will provide polyethylene plastic bags for potting mangrove propagules to assist in establishing a mangrove nursery for future planting and rehabilitation activities.

👏 CENRO Guimbal commends the Barangay Council of Cabasi for its unwavering commitment to mangrove conservation. At present, Barangay Cabasi remains the only barangay in the Municipality of Guimbal recognized by this Office as having an established mangrove area.

🌱 This initiative proves that even small actions, when sustained through community participation and genuine care for the environment, can create a significant and lasting positive impact for present and future generations.

🌱 Tubungan Stakeholders Converge to Advance Sustainable Coffee Livelihood and Integrated Farming Initiatives🌱

The Local Government Unit of Tubungan, together with DENR-CENRO Guimbal, the 61st Infantry (Hunter) Battalion, the Iloilo Coffee Council, FRIENDS–Tubungan Chapter, the Igpaho Indigenous People’s Farmers Association, Inc. (IIPFAI), and other stakeholders, convened a convergence meeting at Camp Monteclaro on July 22, 2026, to solidify plans for a flagship integrated farming and community-based coffee livelihood project.

The initiative aims to boost local coffee production, enhance food security, and create inclusive economic opportunities for local farmers and Indigenous Peoples through a proposed Community-Based Coffee Shop and Livelihood Center.

A central element of the development framework is its strategic alignment with national conservation policies, as the project site sits within a designated Community-Based Forest Management Agreement (CBFMA) area in Barangay Igtuble.

Ensuring full alignment with national environmental laws, For. Liezel B. Arabe, SrEMS and concurrent CBFM Coordinator of CENRO Guimbal, spearheads the regulatory and sustainability oversight for the project. During the meeting, For. Arabe detailed the essential CBFMA program guidelines, site development considerations, and environmental safeguards required for the site. Her technical guidance establishes the legal roadmap necessary to ensure the enterprise remains fully compliant with government policies and operates under strict principles of responsible land stewardship.

The convergence concluded with a unified commitment from all attending government sectors, military officials, and People’s Organizations to pursue a collaborative approach that successfully merges economic growth, eco-tourism, and natural resource conservation.
