๐๐๐๐๐ฏ๐ฅ๐ ๐พ๐๐ฉ๐ฎ โ The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Bicol, through its Single Entry Approach (SEnA) Program, assisted a 60-year-old former quality control sampler of a private corporation in securing his retirement benefits and unpaid last salary amounting to P83,315.49, on Monday, at DOLE Regional Office 5, reflecting Labor Secretary Francis N. Tolentinoโs continuing mission of upholding the rights and welfare of workers through the effective implementation of labor laws and policies.
The complainant sought assistance from DOLE after his employer failed to release his statutory retirement benefits despite the five-year service requirement from January 2021 to March 2026 under the Retirement Pay Law.
The aggrieved worker alleged that his employer had also withheld his final salary despite his efforts to request its release. Faced with these concerns, he sought assistance through the program and underwent the required conciliation-mediation process, with both parties participating in the scheduled conferences.
OIC-Regional Director Atty. Nepomuceno A. Leaรฑo II, CPA, highlighted the importance of protecting and assisting workersโ rights, particularly those of retiring employees who deserve timely and equitable settlement of their lawful claims.
โWe aim to be the voice of our fellow workers by encouraging them to clearly understand their retirement eligibility, benefit computation, and payment procedures. By providing accurate guidance and assistance concerning retirement-benefit obligations, we are delivering responsive and meaningful labor and employment services,โ said OIC-RD Atty. Leaรฑo II.
During the conferences facilitated by SEnA Desk Officer (SEADO) Ms. Sheiva A. Llamera, the parties reached an agreement for the settlement of the complainantโs claims resulting to the responding party receiving the rightful amount based on the computation prescribed by existing labor laws and standards.
The complainant expressed his gratitude for providing him with an avenue to voice his concerns and seek an amicable resolution of his claims. [END] JVEG/M.Huidem
