El Salvador City Jail (ESCJ) was formerly categorized as El Salvador Municipal Jail situated adjacent to PNP station of El Salvador, Misamis Oriental. It was previously manned by the PNP and took over under the supervision and administration by the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology last 16 May 2000 under the supervision of J/SSUPT RUBEN G BONAVENTE, Regional Director of BJMP-RX, under the war
denship of SJO4 Robinson J Daanoy. Last 27 June 2007 Municipality of El Salvador was finally realized as City as per RA 9435 β AN ACT CONVERTING THE MUNICIPALITY OF EL SALVADOR IN THE PROVINCE OF MISAMIS ORIENTAL INTO A COMPONENT CITY TO BE KNOWN AS THE CITY OF EL SALVADORβ under the leadership of Mayor Alfredo Q. The Local Government of El Salvador City allocated a lot area of Two Thousand Five Hundred (2500) square meters for the construction of a new facility within the heart of El Salvador City. El Salvador City Jail implemented the development program for the PDL, among those is the Therapeutic Community Modality Program (TCMP) which this jail facility is the model jail to some municipalities nearby for their Community Based Rehabilitation Program (CBRP) exposure. Other livelihood programs are vegetable gardening, beads making/plastic flower making, hollow block making, rag making, haircut/manicure/pedicure and other. Last July 15, 2019 commencement exercises was held inside this facility with a total of Twelve (12) PDL graduated. Ten (10) in high school and five (5) in elementary. On Religious Activities, there are many interfaith conducted in this facility and a holy mass is scheduled three (3) times a month. The city of Agricultureβs Office conducted various seminars for the benefits of PDL. At present there are seventy-one (71) PDL, sixty-three (63) are adult male PDL and eight (8) adult female PDL.
