πŸ”₯ ALWAYS READY, ALWAYS PREPARED! πŸ”₯

As part of our continuous commitment to public safety, Medina Fire Station personnel executed their Weekly Skills Enhancement Drill focusing on the proper Donning of the Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA).

This activity is spearheaded by OIC Municipal Fire Marshal SFO4 Julieta G Wapanio, guided by Misamis Oriental Provincial Fire Marshal FSUPT ROEL G BACASNOT, and supervised by BFP-10 Acting Regional Director FSSUPT RICHARD V ARBUTANTE, DSC.

Mastering the SCBA is a vital skill for every firefighter. It provides breathable air in hazardous, zero-visibility environmentsβ€”allowing to perform life-saving rescues and combat structural fires safely and effectively.

⚠️ REMINDER TO THE PUBLIC:
When emergency strikes, prioritize calling for help before sharing on social media!

In rescue work, both the Clove Hitch Center Catch and Clove Hitch on a Bight are important because they allow rescuers to secure, position, and control ropes efficiently. Their value is especially clear when setting up rescue systems, securing equipment, or managing a rope under load.

In rope rescue, your anchor is your lifeline. A Tensionless Anchor with Backup keeps nearly 100% of rope strength because friction holds the load, not a knot. It’s fast to set, easy to release after heavy loads, and gives us the redundancy required for life-safety systems.

πŸ”₯ Empowering the Youth for a Fire-Safe Community! πŸ”₯

In active celebration of Llinggo ng Kabataan of Brgy South Poblacion, the personnel of Medina Fire Station recently stepped up to engage, educate, and empower the young leaders. Recognizing that safety begins with awareness, by utilizing this special occasion to champion a Fire-Safe Youth through a comprehensive Fire Safety Lecture under the Oplan Ligtas na Pamayanan (OLP) program.

The interactive session equipped the youth with essential, life-saving knowledgeβ€”from practical fire prevention tips and everyday household hazard identification to basic emergency response procedures. By teaching our young citizens how to stay calm, act fast, and take proactive measures, the Medina Fire Station continues to build a resilient neighborhood where every resident plays an active role in disaster preparedness.

The youth are not just the future of our community; they are our partners in safety today. A huge thank you to Barangay South Poblacion, the SK council, and our active BFP personnel for making this event a success!

πŸ”₯ BUILDING A FIRE-SAFE COMMUNITY, ONE HOME AT A TIME! πŸ πŸš’

Fire safety is a shared responsibility, and proactive prevention starts right at our doorsteps.

To ensure the safety and preparedness of our local households, the dedicated personnel of BFP Medina, led by SFO4 Julieta G. Wapanio, successfully conducted an extensive Oplan Ligtas na Pamayanan (OLP) House-to-House Survey at Purok 5, Brgy. South Poblacion, Medina.

Through this initiative, our Medina FS personnel together with the Brgy South Poblacion working closely:

Identify potential fire hazards around the home.

Share crucial fire prevention tips and emergency response guidance.

Assess neighborhood preparedness to ensure swift action during emergencies.

We extend our heartiest gratitude to the barangay officials and the welcoming residents of Purok 5 for their cooperation and warm reception. Together, we are taking vital steps toward a more resilient and fire-safe Medina!

Stay vigilant, stay informed, and always practice fire safety at home. πŸ‘¨β€πŸš’β€οΈ

BFP, PNP apprehend Fire Officer in an Illegal Recruitment Entrapment

The Bureau of Fire Protection, in a joint effort with the Philippine National Police (PNP), apprehended a BFP personnel allegedly involved in the illegal recruitment scam during an entrapment operation on Wednesday, August 5, in Dagupan City, Pangasinan.

The 36-year old suspect, holding the position of Fire Officer 3 (FO3), is currently assigned at one of the the fire stations in Region 1.

The operation stemmed when the 25-year old victim reported to PNP Dagupan City. The suspect allegedly demanded an amount of β‚±150,000.00 in exchange for securing employment in the BFP. Acting quickly, the BFP Region 1 headed by Regional Director FCSUPT Antonio N Razal Jr, and Police Station 1, set up the entrapment operation.

During the operation, the victim handed the marked money inside a vehicle. The suspect noticed the approaching police and sped away and was eventually cornered. Investigators are still trying to locate the marked money, which may have been discarded during the pursuit.

The suspect is currently in PNP custody and faces inquest proceedings. He was previously suspended in a separate administrative case for a similar offense. In the past incident, he returned the money which prevented a formal entrapment at that time.

In a statement, BFP Officer-in-Charge FCSUPT Wilberto Rico Neil A Kwan Tiu said that the BFP remains committed to a strict and fair hiring process. β€œWe do not tolerate corruption in our ranks. We are closely working with the police to ensure anyone exploiting applicants will face the law. We will hold our personnel accountable for their actions.” FCSUPT Kwan Tiu said.

The BFP, through the β€œOPLAN SANTINDIG,” conducts an anti-extortion campaign on recruitment, promotions and transfers to ensure integrity within its ranks. Applicants are reminded that payment is not required to gain entry in the BFP, and application is strictly based on merit and fitness. The public is encouraged to report any recruitment irregularities.
