The drill was actively participated in by both learners and teachers, following a systematic sequence of procedures to ensure safety and preparedness. The activity was conducted in connection with the orientation held the previous day with parents and teachers, as well as the coordination meeting with the DepEd District Office, PTA, BLGU officials, school heads, and AOs regarding possible scenarios for the upcoming SIMEX on Schools.
The exercise began with the identification of the incident location, ensuring that participants understood designated safety and response areas. A whistle, signaled by Ms. Myravil Inaldo, indicated the presence of a shooter, prompting learners and teachers to immediately observe their surroundings, hide, and secure classrooms.
Inside the classroom, Ms. Jetender B. Abe, the designated teacher, secured the learners and reinforced containment and protection measures, instilling vigilance and discipline. Once the simulated incident was declared safe, Ms. Wilma M. Gawayen instructed participants to move to safe grounds and conducted a countdown of learners to account for attendance and confirm the safety of all participants.
Following this, a communication simulation was carried out by Ms. Kathleen Joy Ayawan and Ms. Kay M. Baguinan, ensuring proper reporting procedures were practiced.
Through this organized process, the drill provided practical experience in responding to the school safety exercise, while strengthening awareness, preparedness, and resiliency among the school community.
The activity was designed not only to enhance safety drill response protocols but also to integrate survival strategies for shooting incidents. Emphasis was placed on observe -runβhideβfight, lockdown procedures, and communication systems, while carefully balancing the need to avoid psychological harm among learners.
