𝗛𝗘𝗔𝗧 𝗔𝗗𝗩𝗜𝗦𝗢𝗥𝗬

With the rising temperatures this season, the public is advised to take extra precautions when going outdoors to prevent heat-related illnesses such as heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

Stay Hydrated:
• Drink plenty of water throughout the day, even if you are not thirsty.
• Avoid alcoholic, caffeinated, and sugary drinks as these may lead to dehydration.

Dress Appropriately:
• Wear light-colored, loose-fitting, and breathable clothing.
• Use hats, umbrellas, or caps for added protection from the sun.

Limit Sun Exposure:
• Avoid going outdoors during peak heat hours (10:00 AM to 4:00 PM).
• If possible, schedule outdoor activities early in the morning or late in the afternoon.

Protect Yourself:
• Apply sunscreen to prevent sunburn.
• Seek shade whenever possible and take frequent breaks if working outdoors.

Watch for Heat-Related Symptoms:
• Be alert for signs such as dizziness, headache, excessive sweating, nausea, or muscle cramps.
• In severe cases (heat stroke), symptoms may include confusion, fainting, or high body temperature—seek immediate medical attention.

Care for Vulnerable Groups:
• Pay special attention to children, senior citizens, pregnant women, and persons with medical conditions.
• Never leave children or pets inside parked vehicles.

At Home and in the Community:
• Keep your surroundings well-ventilated.
• Check on neighbours and family members, especially those living alone.

Let us all stay safe, hydrated, and protected during this period of extreme heat. | via Jason Neola
