“Every book we open empowers change in how we see the world, how we understand one another, and how we shape our future,” Dapitan Campus Director Dr. Patrick G. Galleto said as the Jose Rizal Memorial State University (JRMSU) University Book Fair 2026 opened at the University Library, JRMSU Dapitan, on September 23.

Carrying the theme “Turning Pages, Transforming Minds: Building a Culture of Reading and Learning,” the three-day book fair brings together students, faculty, administrative personnel, librarians, and book suppliers, with exhibits open for viewing from September 23 to 25, 2026.

Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Jay D. Telen likewise underscored the transformative value of reading and lifelong learning, sharing his personal journey as an avid reader and his enduring pursuit of knowledge.

The opening featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Dr. Telen and Dr. Galleto, together with Director for Libraries Mr. Mark Andrew Bacordo, Main Campus Librarian Ms. Fe A. Alavanza, librarians, library personnel, and participating suppliers.

More than an exhibit of books, the University Book Fair fosters JRMSU’s commitment to cultivating critical thinking, knowledge creation, and lifelong learning, helping create an academic environment where access to knowledge translates into deeper learning, informed perspectives, and continuous intellectual growth.

The University Library of Jose Rizal Memorial State University (JRMSU) in the Dapitan Campus formally received donated books and learning resources from international benefactors during a ceremonial turnover on September 7, 2026, strengthening access to academic materials for the University community.

The donations were made by Dr. Karl-Heinz Wionzek of Düsseldorf, Germany, and Ms. Judith Apao of the United Nations of America. Representing Dr. Vionzek, Prof. Naomie S. Baguinat facilitated the unboxing of the materials from Germany, including books, instructional tapes, and correspondence for the University Library. Meanwhile, Mr. Arman Apao, representing Ms. Apao, turned over the donated materials, including his personal encyclopedia collection.

On behalf of the JRMSU Management Committee, Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Jay D. Telen acknowledged the generous donors and underscored the value of the resources in advancing academic support and international cooperation.

Director for Libraries Mr. Mark Andrew Bacordo opened the ceremony, while Main Campus Librarian Ms. Fe A. Alavanza delivered the closing remarks, with Periodical Librarian Ms. Tamia Rose T. Mohametano facilitating the program.

The initiative supports JRMSU’s commitment to equitable access to quality learning resources and advances quality education by strengthening the University’s knowledge infrastructure for teaching, learning, and research.
