June 2, 2026 — University President Dr. Maria Rio Abdon Naguit joined First District Representative of Zamboanga del Norte and JRMSU Board of Regents member Cong. Roberto “Pin-Pin” T. Uy, Jr., and Third District Representative Cong. Michael Adrian A. Amatong during the committee hearing on the proposed establishment of the Jose Rizal Memorial State University–Sergio Osmeña Campus, and the Jose Rizal Memorial State University–Sibuco Campus. These strategic initiatives aim to expand access to quality higher education in underserved communities.

The proposed campuses mark a significant step toward strengthening educational inclusion, advancing regional human capital development, fostering inclusive regional growth, and bringing quality, responsive higher education closer to learners across Zamboanga del Norte and neighboring communities.

The Campus Librarians of Jose Rizal Memorial State University (JRMSU) actively participated in the General Orientation and Workshop on Institutional Accreditation held on April 27–28, 2026, at the CNAHS Audio-Visual Hall, Main Campus, JRMSU, Dapitan City.

The activity aimed to strengthen institutional understanding of accreditation standards and processes while reinforcing the University’s commitment to quality assurance, continuous improvement, and academic excellence across its library system.

Present during the activity were Mr. Mark Andrew D. Bacordo, Director for Libraries and Campus Librarian of JRMSU Dipolog Campus Library; Ms. Fe A. Alavanza, Main Campus Librarian; Ms. Charity Branzuela, Main Campus Circulation Librarian; and Ms. Kiara Keren M. Alavanza, Katipunan Campus Librarian.

The active participation of the librarians plays a significant role in the preparation of the required documents for Area VII: Library in line with the University’s upcoming Institutional Accreditation. Their dedication reflects the continuous efforts of the JRMSU Libraries in supporting institutional excellence and delivering quality library services to the academic community.
