𝟲𝗜𝗗 𝗛𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘀’ 𝗣𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗹 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆

CAMP SIONGCO, Awang, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte – All officers of the 6th Infantry (Kampilan) Division participated in the two-day Officers’ Pistol Proficiency and Competency Training, formally opened at Camp Siongco on September 2, 2026, as part of the Command's ongoing efforts to enhance their skills, competence, discipline, and readiness in the safe and responsible handling of their issued fi****ms.

Col. Manuel Leo Q. Gador, Chief of Staff of the 6th Infantry (Kampilan) Division, led the opening ceremony alongside the Command's senior officers.

In his message, Col. Gador emphasized the importance of discipline, professionalism, and exemplary conduct among officers, stressing that they must serve as role models for their subordinates and the people they serve. He also underscored that proficiency in firearm handling is not only about self-protection but also about fulfilling the responsibility to protect the military service and the Filipino people.

Brig. Gen. Ricky P. Bunayog, Acting Commander of the 6ID/JTF Central, emphasized that, as leaders, officers must continuously develop the competence, discipline, and professionalism needed to effectively lead their personnel and accomplish their mission. He underscored that proficiency in pistol handling is an essential part of an officer’s readiness and responsibility, requiring not only technical competence but also sound judgment, discipline, and strict adherence to safety protocols. He further reminded the officers that their skills must be anchored on the higher purpose of protecting their fellow soldiers, supporting the mission of the Armed Forces, and serving the Filipino people with honor and professionalism.

The training covers fi****ms safety, proper shooting techniques, disciplined weapons handling, and marksmanship in accordance with established military standards and safety protocols. It provides participating officers with an opportunity to further hone their pistol-handling skills, strengthen their confidence and competence, and reinforce their commitment to responsible and professional performance of duty.

The activity highlights the Command's continuing commitment to developing capable, disciplined, competent, and professional officers who are prepared to lead their personnel, respond effectively to operational requirements, and uphold their responsibility to protect and serve the Filipino people.

CAMP SIONGCO, Awang, DOS, MAGUINDANAO DEL NORTE—The leadership of the 6th Infantry (Kampilan) Division and the Joint Task Force Central expressed full support for the Ceremonial Signing of the Guidelines for Mutual Understanding among the Government of the Philippines (GPH), the Coordinating Committees on the Cessation of Hostilities (CCCH), the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (M**F), and the Ad Hoc Joint Action Group (AHJAG) for ceasefire-related functions in connection with the first BARMM Parliamentary Elections, scheduled for September 14, 2026.

The ceremonial signing took place at Camp Darapanan, Crossing Simuay, Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao del Norte, on August 31, 2026. Attendees included Major General Jose Vladimir R. Cagara, Acting Commander of the Western Mindanao Command (WestMinCom); Major General Patricio Ruben P. Amata, Chairman of the GPH-CCCH; Brig. Gen. Ricky P. Bunayog, Acting Commander of the 6ID/JTF Central; and Brig. Gen. Edgar L. Catu, Assistant Division Commander.

Also present were Mel Senen Sarmiento, Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity (OPAPRU); Mohagher Iqbal, Chairman of the M**F; Army Brigade and Battalion Commanders; personnel from the Philippine National Police; and representatives from the GPH, AHJAG, M**F peace mechanisms, and other key stakeholders.

The Guidelines for Mutual Understanding were signed by senior officials of the GPH and M**F peace mechanisms, including Police Brig. Gen. Jemuel F. Siason, Chairman of the GPH-AHJAG, and Director Anwar Alamada, Chairman of the M**F-AHJAG, along with other members of the respective peace mechanisms. The signing affirmed their shared commitment to the peace process and to the effective implementation of ceasefire-related functions.

The agreement reaffirms the parties’ commitment to uphold the ceasefire, strengthen coordination, and promote mutual understanding in fulfilling their respective ceasefire-related responsibilities. It also aims to prevent misunderstandings, address potential conflicts through peaceful means, and contribute to safe, stable, and credible BARMM Parliamentary Elections.

In his message, Brig. Gen. Bunayog expressed the 6ID/JTF Central's full support for the signing, emphasizing that the agreement will help sustain peace and stability in the region and contribute to the peaceful conduct of the upcoming elections.

The signing ceremony highlights ongoing cooperation among the Government of the Philippines, the M**F, and various peace mechanisms supporting the peace process. Through sustained coordination and adherence to agreed guidelines, the parties reaffirm their collective commitment to maintaining peace and stability and to ensuring a safe, orderly, and peaceful historic parliamentary election in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

Maj. Gen. Cagara, Acting Commander of the WestMinCom, emphasized the event’s significance. “Our continued dialogue and coordination are essential to achieving a peaceful, orderly, and credible election. The Western Mindanao Command wholeheartedly supports this effort, and we remain committed to maintaining professionalism, impartiality, and fairness as we fulfill our duty to protect the people and ensure a safe and peaceful electoral process,” Maj. Gen. Cagara said.

Maj. Gen. Angcao, the 56th Commander of the 4ID, is a member of the Philippine Military Academy “Maalab” Class of 1993. Prior to his current assignment, he served as Assistant Chief of Staff for Operations (G3) in the Philippine Army and held key command positions, including Commander of the 1003rd Infantry Brigade and Battalion Commander of the 73rd Infantry “Neutralizer” Battalion.

During the engagement, the Army commanders discussed matters concerning the security situation and readiness and preparedness to maintain a safe and secure environment within its area of operational responsibility, particularly in preparation for the upcoming Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) elections on September 14, 2026.

The visit underscored the importance of close coordination and interoperability between the two Army Commands to address security concerns and ensure the peaceful, orderly, and credible conduct of the upcoming BARMM elections.

The engagement further reaffirmed the Philippine Army’s commitment to strengthening unity of effort among its major units and supporting stakeholders to pursue lasting peace and security in Central Mindanao.

Bunayog, Acting Commander of the 6th Infantry (Kampilan) Division and Joint Task Force Central, attended the Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC) meeting on August 28, 2026, at Carpenter Hill, Koronadal City, where he actively participated in discussions on peace, security, and public safety in the region.

The meeting was attended by key members of the RPOC, presided over by Gov. Reynaldo Tamayo of South Cotabato; representatives from the PNP led by PBGen Alan Manibog, the Regional Director of PRO12; the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP); the Department of Education (DepEd); various government agencies; and local government units from SOCCSKSARGEN.

During the meeting, participants provided updates, discussed security concerns, and exchanged recommendations to address emerging peace and order issues. The discussions also focused on developments and concerns requiring sustained inter-agency coordination, including emerging security challenges, community protection, and further strengthening of collaborative mechanisms among government agencies and other stakeholders.

The RPOC is a multi-sectoral body tasked with coordinating peace and order initiatives and addressing security challenges at the regional level. In Region XII, or SOCCSKSARGEN, the RPOC covers South Cotabato, Cotabato Province, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, and General Santos City. The council facilitates cooperation and collaboration among government agencies, local officials, and community stakeholders to effectively address issues concerning peace, security, and public safety.

The 6ID Commander's participation in the RPOC meeting reaffirmed the Command's commitment to working closely with stakeholders to address security concerns and promote a peaceful and secure environment.

The 6ID continues to support the government’s peace and development agenda and contribute to preserving peace and order across its area of responsibility.

Jose Vladimir R. Cagara, Acting Commander of the Western Mindanao Command (WESTMINCOM); Lt. Gen. Adonis Ariel G. Orio, Commander of the Eastern Mindanao Command (EASTMINCOM); Maj. Gen. Yegor Rey P. Barroquillo Jr., Commander of the 1st Infantry (Tabak) Division; and Maj. Gen. Leonardo I. Peña, Commander of the 11th Infantry (Alakdan) Division, along with the Brigade, Battalion, and other unit commanders of the Joint Task Force Central.

During the visit, they discussed key security updates, operational plans, and ongoing preparations, with an emphasis on maintaining heightened vigilance in election areas. The discussions also focused on addressing potential security threats, ensuring the safety of voters, election personnel, candidates, and political parties throughout the electoral process, and strengthening proactive information dissemination to keep the public informed about the actual situation on the ground throughout the election period.

During the meeting, Gen. Nafarrete emphasized the need for all units to remain vigilant, responsive, and prepared to address potential election-related security challenges. He directed commanders and personnel to strengthen coordination, intelligence monitoring, and operational readiness across their areas of responsibility.

The AFP continues to heighten its security preparations for the upcoming elections, with its leadership closely monitoring security concerns, potential threats, and emerging developments that may affect the peaceful conduct of the polls. The leadership also emphasized the importance of close coordination among unit commanders in addressing potential security concerns in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

The heightened preparations reflect the AFP’s commitment to working closely with COMELEC, the Philippine National Police, local government units, and other stakeholders to intensify its security measures through strengthened deployment, intelligence monitoring, inter-agency coordination, and enhanced readiness of its personnel and units to ensure a peaceful, orderly, and credible historic BARMM Parliamentary Election.

CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao del Norte — The 6th Infantry (Kampilan) Division, Philippine Army, and Joint Task Force Central (JTFC) reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening security measures in support of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) for the peaceful, orderly, and credible conduct of the September 14, 2026 BARMM Parliamentary Elections during the Command Conference held on August 25, 2026.

The Command Conference served as a venue to assess the security situation, synchronize operational plans, and strengthen coordination among the 6ID/JTFC in preparation for the upcoming elections. The conference brought together the Unit Commanders of Joint Task Force Central, who discussed security concerns, potential threats, and appropriate measures to ensure the safety of voters, election personnel, candidates, political parties, and other stakeholders before, during, and after the elections.

The 6ID/JTFC emphasized the importance of maintaining a safe, conducive environment in which every qualified voter can freely exercise the right to vote without fear, intimidation, violence, or other forms of electoral interference.

The Command likewise directed subordinate units to sustain close coordination with COMELEC, the PNP, local government units, and other partner agencies, particularly in identifying and addressing potential security threats and election-related incidents.

The 6ID/JTFC further underscored the need for strict adherence to the rule of law, respect for human rights, and impartiality in performing security duties. All personnel were reminded to remain professional, vigilant, and responsive while ensuring that security operations do not interfere with the legitimate exercise of the people’s right to vote.

The Command Conference also highlighted the importance of intelligence-driven and preventive security measures, strengthened area monitoring, rapid response capabilities, and continuous coordination among security forces and election stakeholders.

In his message, Brig. Gen. Ricky P. Bunayog, Acting Commander, 6ID and JTFC, stated that “As we prepare for the 2026 BARMM Parliamentary Elections, the 6th Infantry (Kampilan) Division and Joint Task Force Central remain steadfast in our commitment to provide a safe, peaceful, and conducive environment for every Bangsamoro voter to freely exercise the right to vote.

“Our mandate is clear: to support the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) and our partner agencies in ensuring the peaceful, orderly, and credible conduct of the elections while strictly respecting the rule of law, human rights, and the constitutional mandate of COMELEC as the lead agency in the conduct of elections.

“I call on all our personnel to remain professional, impartial, vigilant, and responsive in the performance of their duties. Let us ensure that our efforts prevent violence, intimidation, and other forms of electoral interference without impeding the legitimate exercise of the people’s right to vote.

“The 6ID/JTFC stands ready to fulfill its responsibility in support of COMELEC and the Bangsamoro people. We remain committed to serving with honor, professionalism, and dedication before, during, and after the elections.

“Let us work together to ensure that the 2026 BARMM Parliamentary Elections are peaceful, orderly, and credible and that the voice and genuine will of the Bangsamoro people are heard and respected.”

The 6ID/JTFC reaffirmed that the security sector’s role is to ensure a safe and peaceful environment for the electoral process while respecting COMELEC’s constitutional mandate as the lead agency for conducting elections.
