PNP POSTS 65% TRUST, 63% PERFORMANCE RATINGS IN LATEST OCTA SURVEY

The Philippine National Police (PNP) continues to earn the confidence of the Filipino people, recording a 65% trust rating and a 63% performance rating in the latest OCTA Research Tugon ng Masa Survey for the second quarter of 2026.

The results place the PNP among the government agencies receiving strong public trust and positive performance assessments during the period, reflecting the public’s recognition of the organization’s continuing efforts to maintain peace and order, protect communities, and provide responsive police services.

PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. welcomed the results, saying the strong ratings are a meaningful reflection of how the public sees the PNP and its work.

“Malaking bagay sa amin ang resulta ng survey dahil galing mismo ito sa pananaw ng ating mga kababayan. Tayo ay nagpapasalamat sa tiwalang ipinagkaloob nila sa PNP. Gagawin namin itong dagdag na inspirasyon para lalo pang pagbutihin ang aming serbisyo at patunayan araw-araw na karapat-dapat kami sa tiwalang ito.”

The Chief PNP said the ratings further encourage the organization to remain focused on providing police services that are professional, responsive, and respectful of the rights of every citizen.

The results also reinforce the PNP’s continuing implementation of its Focused Agenda, particularly efforts under Enhanced Managing Police Operations to make police responses more effective, responsive, and attuned to the needs of communities.

For the PNP, public confidence is strengthened not only by measurable accomplishments, but also by the everyday experiences of people when they interact with police officers—from responding to emergencies and addressing crimes to assisting citizens and helping keep communities safe.

The PNP will continue to support the peace and security priorities of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., while sustaining reforms and initiatives aimed at improving police performance and strengthening public confidence in the organization.

The latest OCTA Research results are an encouraging affirmation for the men and women of the PNP, as well as a reminder of the responsibility that comes with the public’s trust.

PNP ENSURES SAFE RECOVERY OF CORRODED AMMUNITION IN CLARK

The Philippine National Police (PNP) continues to strengthen its readiness to respond to potentially hazardous discoveries following the recovery of corroded ammunition at a construction site in the Clark Freeport Zone, Mabalacat City, Pampanga on August 17, 2026.

Personnel of the PNP Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Canine Group (EOD/K9) responded to the site after the items were discovered. Following an assessment of the area, trained EOD personnel safely secured the recovered ammunition and transferred the items to a temporary facility for proper safekeeping and disposition.

Chief PNP Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said the response demonstrates the importance of having properly trained personnel who can act promptly when potentially hazardous items are found.

“Hindi lang bilis ang kailangan sa ganitong sitwasyon. Kailangan tama ang assessment at tama rin ang handling. That is why we make sure our trained personnel are ready to respond and manage these situations properly,” PGen Nartatez said.

The Chief PNP also reminded the public to exercise caution when encountering suspected ammunition, explosives, or other unfamiliar items that may pose a safety risk.

“Kung may makita kayong ganitong bagay, huwag na nating subukang galawin, buksan, o ilipat. Lumayo muna, keep others away from the area, at agad ipagbigay-alam sa pinakamalapit na police station o awtoridad. Mas ligtas kapag trained personnel ang humawak at magsuri,” PGen Nartatez said.

The operation reflects the PNP’s continuing efforts under its Focused Agenda, particularly Enhanced Managing Police Operations, by ensuring that police units remain prepared to respond appropriately to situations that may affect public safety.

The PNP’s sustained operational readiness supports the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. in maintaining safe and secure communities through responsive public service, consistent with the “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat, at Nararamdaman.”

LOOK: In line with the PNP Focused Agenda on Morale and Welfare, and under the leadership of PBGEN ROGELIO Z. RAYMUNDO, JR., Director, PNP-EOD/K9 Group, personnel of Ilocos Sur PECU, RECU 1, under the supervision of PLT ISAGANI L BALDERAS, Team Leader, ISPECU, participated in the Squad Weekly Interactive Meeting (SWIM) held at the ISPECU Office, Bulag, Bantay, Ilocos Sur.

The activity was facilitated by Pastor Wayne P. Silverio, BOCS Advocate and Life Coach, with the topic “Be Tactful.” The discussion emphasized the importance of tactfulness, proper communication, self-discipline, and maintaining professionalism in dealing with colleagues and members of the community. It also encouraged personnel to practice respect, patience, and sound judgment in performing their duties.

The SWIM served as a venue for personnel to strengthen camaraderie, promote positive values, and enhance their personal and professional development. The activity was conducted in support of the Enhanced Revitalized PNP Internal Cleansing Strategy, which aims to strengthen the character, integrity, and accountability of PNP personnel.

RAYMUNDO, JR., Director, PNP-EOD/K9 Group, and under the supervision of PMAJ OSCAR D PAGULAYAN, JR, OIC, RECU 1, personnel of EIRT Cauayan Airport, RECU 2, led by PSMS Domingo T Sibbaluca Jr., EOD Technician, together with PCpl Wenifredo L Redoloza Jr., EOD Technician, OIC, RECU 2, conducted a dialogue and distribution of Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials at Cauayan Airport, Brgy. San Fermin, Cauayan City, Isabela.

The activity covered the Passenger Arrival Area, Waiting Area, Airport Canteen, Parking Area, and SkyPasada. The personnel distributed IEC materials and provided information on bomb awareness, Presidential Decree No. 1727 (Bomb Joke Law), Gender and Development (GAD), Republic Act No. 9262 (Anti-VAWC Act), Executive Order No. 70/NTF-ELCAC, and the harmful effects of illegal drugs. The activity also promoted awareness and encouraged the public to support a drug-free lifestyle in observance of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (IDADAIT).

The activity aimed to strengthen public awareness, promote vigilance, and encourage proactive measures against explosive-related incidents and other threats to public safety. Through direct dialogue and dissemination of relevant IEC materials, the personnel contributed to enhancing community participation and fostering a safer and more informed airport environment.

In line with the PNP Focused Agenda on Enhanced-Managing Police Operations, and under the leadership of PBGEN ROGELIO Z. RAYMUNDO, JR., Director, PNP-EOD/K9 Group, personnel of District Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Canine Unit 1 (DECU 1), PECU Palawan, RECU MIMAROPA, led by PEMS Alex A Sumagaysay, Team Leader/EOD Technician, together with PMSg Jolly Bonnie Q Tanglib, EOD Technician, and PCpl Ronie C Bacaltos, K9 Handler, conducted a junk shop visitation and inspection at Relex Junk Shop, owned and managed by Mr. Vicente C. Caballes, located at Sitio Batbat, Brgy. Villa Libertad, El Nido, Palawan.
The activity was conducted to promote awareness and vigilance regarding the proper identification and handling of suspicious items that may be encountered in junk shops, particularly materials that could potentially pose explosive-related risks. The personnel also provided guidance to the establishment owner on the importance of immediately reporting any suspicious or unexploded ordnance-related items to the proper authorities.

The visitation and inspection formed part of the proactive security measures of DECU 1, PECU Palawan, aimed at strengthening coordination with junk shop owners and ensuring community awareness and preparedness against possible explosive-related incidents.
