ROMBLON STI, HIV AND AIDS COUNCIL MEETING

The Provincial Health Office of Romblon successfully convened the Romblon STI, HIV and AIDS Council Meeting on August 13, 2026, at the PHO Conference Room, headed by the Council Chairperson, Hon. Trina Alejandra Q. Firmalo-Fabic, Provincial Governor of Romblon.

The meeting provided an important platform for key stakeholders and partner agencies to strengthen coordination and collaboration in addressing sexually transmitted infections (STIs), HIV, and AIDS in the province. Discussions focused on program updates, current concerns, and strategies to further strengthen prevention, awareness, access to quality services, and support for individuals and communities affected by HIV and other STIs.

Under the leadership of the Council Chairperson and through the collective efforts of partner agencies and stakeholders, the Council continues to work toward a more coordinated, responsive, and sustainable provincial approach to STI, HIV, and AIDS prevention and control.

Together, let us strengthen our commitment toward a healthier, safer, and HIV-responsive Romblon.

• Turuan ang mga bata na huwag lumapit o humawak ng anumang uri ng ahas.

🏥 Kapag may nakagat ng ahas:

• Manatiling kalmado at limitahan ang paggalaw ng pasyente.
• Iwasang galawin nang sobra ang nakagat na bahagi.
• Huwag laslasin o higupan ang sugat.
• Dalhin agad ang pasyente sa pinakamalapit na ospital o health facility.

DOH: MAG-INGAT SA MGA MALA-TRANGKASONG SAKIT NA MAY KASAMANG UBO AT SIPON NGAYONG TAG-ULAN!

Dahil sa tuloy-tuloy na pag-ulan at malamig na panahon, mas mabilis kumalat ang mga mala-trangkasong sakit o Influenza-Like Illnesses (ILI) kung saan nakararanas din ng pag-ubo at sipon.

Alamin kung ano nga ba ang mga sakit na ito, kung paano ang mga ito naipapasa, at ang mga paraan upang maiwasan ang mga ito.

Kung ikaw ay may lagnat, ubo, o pananakit ng lalamunan, manatili muna sa bahay, magpahinga, at uminom ng 8-10 baso ng tubig.

‘Pag lumala ang sintomas o nahihirapang huminga, magpakonsulta agad sa pinakamalapit na health center o ospital.

Kasabay ng malawakang pag-ulan at pagbaha ang pagtaas ng panganib ng Leptospirosis.

Pinapaalala ng DOH na tandaan ang mga sintomas at mga paraan kung paano makakaiwas sa sakit na ito.

Kung lumusong sa baha, agad na pumunta sa pinakamalapit na health center para sa tamang gabay at lunas.

The Province of Romblon, through the Provincial Health Office headed by Dr. Lino Marcus M. Viola, actively participated in the MIMAROPA Universal Health Care (UHC) Integration Sites Midyear Assessment conducted by the CHD MIMAROPA – Health Systems and Policy, Planning, and Service Delivery Division (HSPPSD) on July 27-31, 2026 at Wynwood Hotel Ortigas.

The activity brought together UHC Integration Sites across the region to assess the progress of the 2026 UHC integration targets and ensure that implementation remains responsive to the evolving needs of local health systems. It also served as a venue to recalibrate the UHC Integration Site (UIS) Action Plans and the CHD Technical Assistance Plan to further strengthen local health system integration.

The assessment focused on reviewing midyear accomplishments, identifying implementation gaps and challenges, refining strategies, and fostering collaboration and shared learning among participating provinces. More importantly, it reinforced the collective commitment of local governments and the Department of Health to continuously improve the delivery of quality, accessible, integrated, and people-centered health services.

As the Province of Romblon moves forward in its Universal Health Care journey, the Provincial Health Office remains steadfast in working hand in hand with the Department of Health, local government units, health care providers, and partners to build a stronger, more resilient Province-wide Health System. Together, let us continue transforming challenges into opportunities and making Universal Health Care a reality for every Romblomanon.

The Provincial Health Office of Romblon successfully conducted the Mid-Year Program Implementation Review (PIR) 2026, Situational Gap Analysis (SIT-GAP) for the Annual Operational Plan (AOP), and the Review of the Romblon Health Care Provider Network (HCPN) Referral System Manual of Procedures (MOP) Implementation in Pilot Sites on July 22–24, 2026, at Simple Living Hotel.

The activity convened Municipal Health Officers (MHOs), Chiefs of Hospitals (COHs), representatives from private hospitals, Provincial Health Office Program Managers, and technical staff from the Provincial DOH Office (PDOHO) to assess the progress of health program implementation during the first half of 2026. Through the review of program accomplishments, identification of implementation gaps, and evaluation of the HCPN Referral System Manual of Procedures in pilot sites, participants developed evidence-based recommendations and strategic interventions to enhance program performance and service delivery.

The activity likewise served as a platform to strengthen coordination among health care providers, reinforce the implementation of the Health Care Provider Network (HCPN), and align provincial and local health initiatives with the Annual Operational Plan. The outcomes of the review are expected to contribute to a more responsive, integrated, and efficient health system that ensures timely access to quality health services for every Romblomanon.

Through continuous performance assessment, collaborative planning, and shared accountability, the Province of Romblon remains committed to advancing Universal Health Care by strengthening governance, improving referral systems, and delivering equitable, people-centered healthcare services for all.
