A significant step towards advancing innovation and research in Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) technology was marked through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines - Panaon(USTP-Panaon) and DOST Misamis Occidental on May 11, 2026, held at the DOST Misamis Occidental Innovation Hub (iHUB).

The agreement formalizes USTP-Panaon's use of one (1) X-LIPAD Drone System for research and innovation purposes. Students, educators, and researchers of USTP-Panaon may use the customizable drone system for learning, exploration, research, and innovation.

Currently, one unit of customizable drone system is available at USTP-Panaon. Other interested users/institutions may access the technology at the DOST Misamis Occidental Innovation Hub.

Let's have a little throwback on last year's RSTW before we dive into this year's RSTW sa ISLA!
Last year, DOST Northern Mindanao brought the Regional Science, Technology, and Innovation Week to Oroquieta City, and the impact was real. Over 3,000 participants came together across three days of innovation, recognition, and collaboration. From community innovators and MSMEs discovering new technologies, to scholars being celebrated for their excellence to 151 expressions of interest in technology adoption, Agham na Ramdam was more than a theme. It was exactly what happened. And now, we're taking it further.
This July 22–24, RSTW sa ISLA comes to Camiguin, bringing science, technology, and innovation straight to the island. Innovations for agriculture, fisheries, renewable energy, and disaster resilience, all in one place. Because science doesn't stop at the shoreline.

The DOST Misamis Occidental officially started its first Face-to-Face session for the 3-Month Startup Incubation Program with "Day Zero: Reality Check".

The event was conducted at the Innovation Hub of the office where founders, innovators, and startup teams come together for a day of learning, networking, and inspiration.

Participants took part in the Startup Pulse session, where they shared their ideas, goals, and expectations for the incubation journey ahead. The day also featured insightful lectures and a Fireside Chat with experienced startup founders and industry experts, who shared their entrepreneurial journeys, lessons learned, and the challenges they overcame in building their ventures.
