Empowering Educators, Strengthening Adolescent-learner Health Services in Schools of DepEd Ozamiz City๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ“š

Adolescents have unique health and developmental needs that require accessible, comprehensive, and youth-friendly services. The Adolescent Job Aid (AJA) 2.0 Skills Enhancement Training last July 29 - 31 at Bethany Garden Hotel and sponsored by Jhpiego Philippines served as a practical guide for teen center managers, registered guidance counselors, DepEd nurses and other health providers in delivering quality adolescent health services that are responsive to the physical, mental, emotional, and social needs of young learners. As adolescent health issues continue to evolve, concerned personnel need updated knowledge and enhanced skills to effectively implement the standards and protocols outlined in the AJA 2.0.

The conduct of a 3-day training as part of Project BRAVE was aimed to strengthen the competencies of healthcare providers in delivering adolescent-friendly health services through interactive learning, skills demonstration, case discussions, and practical application. The training will enhance participants' capacity to provide appropriate assessment, counseling, management, referral, and follow-up of adolescent clients while promoting confidentiality, respect, gender sensitivity, and adolescent participation.

Furthermore, the training will ensure the standardized implementation of the AJA 2.0, improve the quality and consistency of adolescent services, and contribute to better health outcomes for adolescent-learners. By investing in the continuous professional development of healthcare personnel of DepEd, the program supports the achievement adolescent health goals and the provision of equitable, accessible, and client-centered healthcare services for all adolescents.

The three-day duration provides sufficient time for participants to gain both theoretical knowledge and practical competencies, allowing for interactive discussions, simulation exercises, mentoring, and competency assessment to ensure effective learning and readiness for implementation in their respective school-based teen centers in the select schools of DepEd Ozamiz City.

Thank you again and again to Jhpiego Philippines through Doc Ingrid and Mam Coleen for the continued partnership, to the active participation of DepEd partners from the City Health Ozamiz and Sangguniang Kabataan, division nurses, Socmob Unit, SGOD Chief Imelda Pongase and OIC-ASDS Luisander Luy and OIC-SDS Dionesio Jr. Liwagon.

To our DOH-accredited trainors from Lanao del Norte, thank you for a very fun, and light but very enriching training.

This initiative aims to address common acoustic challenges in classrooms while safeguarding the vocal health of teachers who spend hours delivering daily lectures. By ensuring crisp and clear sound projection, the technology helps maintain student focus, particularly for learners seated in the back of larger classrooms.
