𝗜𝗡𝗦𝗣𝗘𝗞𝗦𝗬𝗢𝗡 𝗦𝗔 𝗠𝗚𝗔 𝗕𝗔𝗦𝗨𝗥𝗔 𝗦𝗔 𝗣𝗔𝗠𝗜𝗟𝗜𝗛𝗔𝗡𝗚 𝗕𝗔𝗬𝗔𝗡, 𝗜𝗦𝗜𝗡𝗔𝗚𝗔𝗪𝗔 𝗡𝗚 𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗥𝗢

Isinagawa ngayong umaga ang pag-iinspeksyon sa mga basura sa Pamilihang Bayan ng Paluan sa pangunguna ng ating Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officer (MENRO) na si Engr. Arnold Dueñas, alinsunod sa atas ng ating Punongbayan Michael “Adobo” Diaz.

Layunin ng isinagawang inspeksyon na masiguro ang maayos na pamamahala ng basura, kalinisan sa paligid ng pamilihan, at pagpapanatili ng kaayusan upang mapangalagaan ang kalusugan ng ating mga mamamayan at mga mamimili.

Patuloy ang paalala ng Lokal na Pamahalaan ng Paluan sa lahat ng tindero, mamimili, at residente na makiisa sa tamang pagtatapon at segregasyon ng basura upang mapanatiling malinis at maayos ang ating bayan.

MENRO Paluan actively participated in the Mindoro Hornbill Monitoring Training held on April 21–24, 2026, spearheaded by Mindoro Biodiversity Conservation Foundation Inc. (MBCFI), the Department of Environment and Natural Resources through the Mt. Calavite Wildlife Sanctuary Protected Area Management Office, and Philippine Biodiversity Conservation Foundation Inc.

The activity focused on strengthening capacities in landscape-level synchronized bio-monitoring, using hornbills as indicator species, and included actual field application through synchronized bird observations across multiple 2-km transects and habitat characterization within Mt. Calavite Wildlife Sanctuary.

Around 30 participants composed of DENR technical personnel (PENROs and CENROs), protected area rangers, Indigenous Peoples from Mt. Halcon, environment officers from Oriental and Occidental Mindoro, and the MBCFI technical team took part in the activity.

🌱 The training resulted in the documentation of additional bird species and notable plant species not previously recorded in Mindoro, along with key recommendations to further enhance conservation strategies in the area.

MENRO’s participation underscores our commitment to science-based conservation, strong partnerships, and the protection of Mindoro’s rich biodiversity.

MENRO Paluan joins the Department of Environment and Natural Resources – Mt. Calavite Wildlife Sanctuary Protected Area Management Office in celebrating the 26th Anniversary of Mt. Calavite Wildlife Sanctuary last April 23, 2026.

As part of the celebration, a CEPA activity was conducted at the Sangguniang Bayan Session Hall, Paluan, Occidental Mindoro, featuring valuable insights from Hornbill expert and MBCFI Trustee, 𝗗𝗿. 𝗝𝘂𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗼𝘀 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗚𝗼𝗻𝘇𝗮𝗹𝗲𝘇. His discussion emphasized the ecological importance of Philippine hornbills, particularly the Mindoro hornbill—the flagship species of the sanctuary.

This milestone serves as a meaningful reminder of our shared responsibility to protect, preserve, and celebrate our natural heritage. MENRO Paluan remains committed to working in solidarity with our partners in advancing conservation efforts for Mindoro’s forests and wildlife.

The Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) proudly participated in the recent training on Mindoro hornbill monitoring, in support of the conservation initiatives of Mindoro Biodiversity Conservation Foundation Inc. (MBCFI) and Philippine Biodiversity Conservation Foundation Inc. (PhilBIO).

This activity brought together protected area rangers, indigenous peoples, environment officers, and technical personnel from DENR field offices, local government units, and MBCFI to enhance skills in monitoring the critically endangered Mindoro hornbill (𝑃𝑒𝑛𝑒𝑙𝑜𝑝𝑖𝑑𝑒𝑠 𝑚𝑖𝑛𝑑𝑜𝑟𝑒𝑛𝑠𝑖𝑠)—a species found only in Mindoro and currently threatened by habitat loss. MENRO’s participation underscores our commitment to biodiversity conservation and collaborative environmental governance.
