Meanwhile, the Tropical Depression (formerly LPA 08h) has intensified into a Tropical Storm with international name "ATSANI" and is being monitored OUTSIDE the PAR.

The Typhoon with international name "SAUDEL" is also being monitored OUTSIDE the PAR.

FRAUDULENT SCHEME IMPERSONATING BFP LEADERSHIP
NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC AND ALL BFP REGION 3 PERSONNEL

The Bureau of Fire Protection Region 3 (BFP R3) warns the public and all BFP personnel against an individual using the name โ€œFSUPT MANUEL CORPUZโ€ using phone number "09399214086" and falsely representing himself as a BFP commissioned officer assigned at the BFP Regional Office 3 to unlawfully receive money.

Modus Operandi:
The individual reportedly contacts Fire Stations and requests the contact details of its personnel, particularly those who are newly transferred, newly recruited, or off-duty female personnel, under the pretense of testing operational readiness. He would ask that his intended victim be informed that they would be receiving a phone call from him.
Upon contacting the intended victim, he allegedly claims that the victim has an outstanding loan with Shopee, TikTok, GCash, or other lending platforms, and claims that the creditors representative is at the BFP Regional Office. He further threatens that the concerned BFP personnel will be immediately transferred to another area for allegedly failing to settle his/her outstanding loan. In order for the victim not to be transferred or receive any punishment, immediate payment must be made through him so that he could personally see to it that the obligation be settled.
The BFP certifies that, based on the available records of its active and in-active personnel records, no record was found that a person by the name โ€œFSUPT MANUEL CORPUZโ€ is or has been a member of the BFP.
All personnel and members of the public are advised to remain vigilant and not to provide payment, money, personal information, or other assistance to individuals making similar claims. Any similar incident should be immediately reported to the Regional Office for verification and appropriate action.
The BFP does not authorize any individual to use its name, officers, personnel, or authority to solicit money or deceive others.
Please remain vigilant and help prevent similar incidents.

As of 8:00 PM today, 21 August 2026, LPA 08f (formerly "NENENG") is being monitored OUTSIDE the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and has a MEDIUM chance of redeveloping into a Tropical Depression within the next 24 hours.

Meanwhile, LPA 08h is being monitored OUTSIDE the PAR and now has a HIGH chance of developing into a Tropical Depression within the next 24 hours.

Severe Tropical Storm, with international name "SAUDEL" has intensified into a Typhoon and is also being monitored OUTSIDE the PAR.
