HONORING DEDICATION AND INSPIRING EXCELLENCE: CAPANDANAN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CELEBRATES WORLD TEACHERS’ DAY 2026

Capandanan Elementary School celebrated its School-Based World Teachers’ Day on October 2, 2026, at 1:30 in the afternoon, in a meaningful celebration dedicated to honoring the invaluable contributions, commitment, and dedication of the school’s teaching and non-teaching personnel. The celebration served as a heartfelt tribute to the educators and school personnel who continuously work together to nurture learners, develop their potentials, and guide them toward becoming responsible, capable, and productive individuals.

World Teachers’ Day is an annual celebration observed every September to the first week of October, providing an opportunity for the school community to recognize the significant role of teachers in shaping the lives and future of learners. At CES, the occasion became a memorable gathering filled with appreciation, gratitude, camaraderie, and joyful surprises.

The celebration was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the School Parent-Teacher Association (SPTA), led by its President, Mrs. Marissa B. Mamaat, with the assistance of the SPTA officers and parents. The Supreme Elementary Learner Government (SELG), led by Amreigh Raziela O. Garcia, also actively participated in making the celebration meaningful and memorable. Their efforts were supported by Mrs. Amelia T. Rosario, School Principal; Mrs. Filotea S. Bolasoc, SPTA Coordinator; and Mrs. Evelyn S. Cancino, SELG Adviser.

One of the highlights of the program was the Induction Ceremony of the newly elected SPTA and SELG officers, marking the beginning of another year of active service, leadership, and partnership for the benefit of the learners and the school community.

The program formally welcomed the guests and participants through the warm message of Mrs. Amelia T. Rosario, School Principal, who expressed her appreciation for the continued support and cooperation of the parents, learners, teachers, and school stakeholders. A special message were also delivered by Barangay Captain Diosdado B. Santiago, Jr., and Kgwd. Lita Ferrer followed by an inspiring message from Mrs. Marissa B. Mamaat, SPTA President, who expressed gratitude to the teachers and acknowledged their dedication and sacrifices in serving the learners.

Adding excitement and joy to the celebration were the surprise performances prepared by the SPTA and SELG officers. Their lively dance presentations brought smiles, laughter, and excitement to the teachers and created a more festive atmosphere throughout the celebration.

One of the most heartfelt portions of the program was the gift-giving activity by learners and parents to their respective teacher-advisers. Learners and parents expressed their love, appreciation, and gratitude through flowers, heartfelt cards, cakes, special gifts, and tokens. These simple yet meaningful gestures served as a reminder to every teacher that their efforts and sacrifices are valued and appreciated by the school community.

The SPTA and SELG also prepared special gifts for all the teachers as a gesture of appreciation for their dedication and commitment. The celebration became even more memorable when Mrs. Amelia T. Rosario, School Principal, surprised each teacher with a beautifully and individually packed gift—a customized DepEd jacket. The thoughtful gesture was warmly received and deeply appreciated by the teachers and non-teaching personnel, making the moment one of the most exciting and memorable highlights of the celebration.

The celebration concluded with a fellowship meal shared by the CES family, bringing together the teachers, non-teaching personnel, SPTA, SELG officers, and other members of the school community. Sharing one meal created an atmosphere of friendship, unity, gratitude, and camaraderie, strengthening the partnership among the different stakeholders of Capandanan Elementary School.

The School-Based World Teachers’ Day celebration was more than just an annual occasion. It was a meaningful expression of gratitude and recognition for the people who dedicate their time, energy, and hearts to the education and development of every learner. The celebration reminded everyone that teaching is not simply a profession but a noble commitment to shaping lives and building a better future.

The entire Capandanan Elementary School family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the SPTA, SELG, parents, learners, barangay officials, and all stakeholders who generously shared their time, effort, love, and support to make the celebration truly special.

Indeed, the celebration was a beautiful reminder that when a school community works together with appreciation, love, and unity, every teacher feels valued and every moment becomes meaningful.

Happy World Teachers’ Day to all the dedicated teachers and school personnel of Capandanan Elementary School!

CES Strengthens Safety Preparedness Through Active Threat Drill

Capandanan Elementary School conducted an Active Threat Safety Drill on September 28, 2026 to reinforce the knowledge and preparedness gained during the orientation conducted by the PNP Lingayen Police (last September 25, 2026). The activity served as an opportunity for the school community to apply the appropriate safety procedures and practice responding calmly and systematically during a possible emergency situation.

The drill was spearheaded by Madam Amelia T. Rosario, School Principal, in coordination with Madam Josephine E. Rosario, School DRRM Coordinator. Learners from Grades 4–6, together with the concerned teaching and non-teaching personnel, participated in the activity.

The drill focused on familiarizing learners and personnel with the school's established emergency procedures. It emphasized the importance of listening carefully to official instructions, staying calm, securing themselves in designated safe areas, maintaining silence when instructed, accounting for learners, and waiting for the official announcement that the drill has ended. The activity was conducted in a controlled manner, with the safety and emotional well-being of the learners given priority.

Steps in Conducting the Safety Drill

1. Pre-drill orientation – Teachers explain the purpose of the drill, expected behaviors, designated safe areas, communication signals, and the difference between a drill and an actual emergency.
2. Coordination and preparation – The school administration coordinates with the DRRM team and appropriate authorities, assigns personnel with specific responsibilities, and identifies areas requiring special assistance.
3. Initiation of the drill – The designated school signal or announcement is given, clearly stating that it is a DRILL.
4. Immediate protective action – Teachers calmly guide learners to the appropriate safe location or implement the school's established lockdown/shelter procedure.
5. Secure and remain calm – Doors are secured according to the school's emergency plan, unnecessary movement is avoided, and learners remain quiet and attentive to instructions.
6. Accountability check – Teachers account for all learners and immediately report any concern or missing learner through the established school communication procedure.
7. Wait for the official all-clear – Participants remain in the designated safe position until the authorized school official announces that the drill has ended.
8. Post-drill debriefing – Teachers, the DRRM team, and school administrators discuss what went well, identify areas for improvement, and document observations for strengthening the school's emergency preparedness plan.

These procedures are consistent with school emergency-planning guidance emphasizing clear roles, communication, accountability, coordination with first responders, and practice of established emergency procedures.

Benefits of the Drill to the School Community

The activity helped strengthen the school's culture of safety and preparedness by allowing learners and personnel to become familiar with appropriate emergency procedures before an actual crisis occurs. It also helped improve coordination, communication, accountability, and teamwork among school personnel and learners.

For learners, the drill provided an age-appropriate opportunity to practice remaining calm, following trusted adults' instructions, and knowing where to go during an emergency. For teachers and school personnel, it helped clarify responsibilities and identify possible gaps in the school's emergency response procedures.

Most importantly, the activity enabled the school to evaluate and improve its existing safety and DRRM procedures. Conducting drills and reviewing the results afterward can help schools strengthen their emergency plans and coordination with first responders.

The activity demonstrated Capandanan Elementary School's continuing commitment to providing a safe, prepared, and supportive learning environment where the protection and well-being of every learner and school personnel remain a priority.

CES Learners Strengthen Safety Awareness Through Active Threat and Shooting Incident Orientation

Capandanan Elementary School strengthened its commitment to ensuring a safe and secure learning environment as personnel from the Philippine National Police–Lingayen Police Station conducted an orientation on Active Threat and Shooting Incidents on September 25, 2026.

The orientation was initiated under the leadership of Chief of Police PLTCOL Junmar C. Gonzales and was personally participated in by PLT Rizel Lumiguen, PAT Erwin Roma Cruz, and PAT Cabriela Soriano. The activity was conducted in line with the department's safety initiatives and aimed to strengthen the preparedness of the school community in responding appropriately to possible active threat and shooting incidents.

Learners from Grades 4 to 6 actively participated in the orientation. The police officers discussed important safety and precautionary measures that learners and school personnel should understand during an emergency. The activity also emphasized the importance of remaining calm, following the instructions of responsible adults and authorities, and knowing the appropriate safety procedures during an unexpected threat.

The orientation provided valuable knowledge that can help learners become more aware of their surroundings and understand the importance of safety and preparedness. For the school, the activity strengthened coordination with local law enforcement and complemented its existing disaster risk reduction, emergency preparedness, and child protection efforts.

More importantly, the activity helped promote a culture of preparedness among learners and school personnel. Through proper awareness and education, the school community can respond more responsibly during emergencies, reduce confusion and panic, and help protect the safety and well-being of everyone in the school.

The activity reflects the shared commitment of CES and the Lingayen Police Station to creating a safe, prepared, and supportive environment where learners can focus on their education with greater confidence and security.

INSET Empowers CES Teachers

The School-Based In-Service Training (INSET) with the theme “Empowering Teachers for Quality, Responsive and Continuous Learning” was conducted on September 10-11, 2026. The training aimed to strengthen teachers’ knowledge, skills, and practices in delivering effective instruction and ensuring continuous and responsive learning, especially during challenging situations.

Day 1 – Part I: Empowering Teachers through Effective Classroom Teaching Practices 8:00 AM – 12:00 NN.
The morning session started with usual preliminaries followed by the Opening Remarks delivered by Amelia T. Rosario, School Head, who formally welcomed the participants and emphasized the value of continuous professional development among teachers.
The first topic, Principles of Teaching, was discussed by Rudilyn D. Rayos, Master Teacher I. This topic provided teachers with fundamental principles that guide effective teaching, classroom management, and the delivery of meaningful learning experiences. Understanding these principles help teachers become more purposeful and responsive to the different needs of their learners.
The next topic was Teaching Science Content through Explicit Instruction, facilitated by Mary Grace S. Gregorio, Teacher VI. The discussion emphasized the importance of presenting lessons clearly and systematically so that learners can better understand scientific concepts and processes. This approach can help teachers make difficult concepts more accessible and encourage active participation and deeper understanding among learners.
After the break, Wengie C. Bolasoc, Teacher VI, facilitated the discussion on Localization and Contextualization. This topic was significant because lessons become more meaningful when they are connected to the learners’ actual experiences, community, culture, and surroundings. Through localization and contextualization, teachers can make classroom learning more relevant and easier for learners to relate to.
The morning session ended with an Open Forum and Feedbacking, facilitated by Madam Rosario. This activity allowed participants to clarify important points, share their insights, and reflect on how the topics could be applied in their own teaching practices.

Day 1 – Part II: Strengthening Learning Continuity in Emergencies: Ensuring Quality Education Anytime, Anywhere 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM
The afternoon session began with an energizer through zumba. The first topic, Guidelines on Learning Continuity in Emergencies, was facilitated by Regina M. Sison, Teacher VI. This topic was important because emergencies and disasters can interrupt regular classes and learning activities. Familiarity with learning continuity guidelines helps teachers prepare appropriate ways to continue education while considering the safety and needs of learners. This was followed by Disaster Preparedness, Response, Recovery and Rehabilitation, facilitated by Gina V. Viray, Teacher VI. The topic emphasized the importance of being prepared before, during, and after disasters. It helps teachers understand their responsibilities and respond appropriately to emergencies while supporting the safety and recovery of the school community.
The next topic, Psychosocial Support and Child Protection, was discussed by Janette S. Aviles, Teacher III. This was an important part of the training because learners may experience fear, stress, or other difficulties during emergencies and challenging situations. Teachers play an important role in creating a safe, supportive, and protective learning environment while being attentive to the well-being and rights of every child.
The training concluded with an Open Forum and Feedbacking, facilitated by the School Head. The activity gave participants an opportunity to raise questions, exchange ideas, and reflect on the lessons gained throughout the training.

* The School-Based In-Service Training provided teachers with relevant knowledge and practical insights that can strengthen their classroom practices and preparedness for different learning situations. The discussions on Principles of Teaching, Explicit Instruction, Localization and Contextualization, Learning Continuity, Disaster Preparedness, and Psychosocial Support and Child Protection highlighted the important role of teachers in providing effective, relevant, safe, and continuous education. Through the active participation of the resource speakers and teachers, the training contributed to the continuing professional growth of educators and their commitment to quality and responsive learning.
