โMAYMAYโ MAINTAINS ITS STRENGTH AS IT MOVES EAST NORTHEASTWARD OVER THE SEA EAST OF ILOCOS SUR
โฃ Location of Center (7:00 PM):
The center of Tropical Storm MAYMAY was estimated based on all available data at 115 km West of Sinait, Ilocos Sur (17.8ยฐN, 119.4ยฐE).
โฃ Intensity:
Maximum sustained winds of 75 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 90 km/h, and central pressure of 996 hPa.
โฃ Present Movement:
East northeastward at 10 km/h
โฃ Extent of Tropical Cyclone Winds:
Strong to gale-force winds extend outwards up to 180 km from the center

โฃ Severe Winds
The wind signals warn the public of the general wind threat over an area due to the tropical cyclone. Local winds may be slightly stronger/enhanced in coastal and upland/mountainous areas exposed to winds. Winds are less strong in areas sheltered from the prevailing wind direction.
โข Minor to moderate impacts from gale-force winds are possible within any of the areas under Wind Signal No. 2.
โข Minimal to minor impacts from strong winds are possible within any of the areas under Wind Signal No. 1.
The Southwest Monsoon and the periphery of MAYMAY will bring strong to gale-force gusts over the following areas (especially in coastal and upland areas exposed to winds):
โข Today until Friday (05 to 07 August): Most of the country.

โฃ 24-Hour Sea Condition Outlook
Up to very rough seas over the following coastal waters:
โข Up to 5.0 m: The seaboards of Ilocos Sur, La Union, and Pangasinan
โข Sea travel is risky for all types or tonnage of vessels. All mariners must remain in port or, if underway, seek shelter or safe harbor as soon as possible until winds and waves subside.
Up to rough seas over the following coastal waters:
โข Up to 3.0 m: The seaboards of Batanes, Isabela, and Zambales; the northern and eastern seaboards of Babuyan Islands and Catanduanes; the western seaboards of Ilocos Norte and Bataan; the northern seaboards of Camarines Norte and Camarines Sur; the eastern seaboards of mainland Cagayan, northern Aurora, and Davao Oriental.
โข Mariners of small seacrafts, including all types of motorbancas, are advised not to venture out to sea under these conditions, especially if inexperienced of operating ill-equipped vessels.
Up to moderate seas over the following coastal waters:
โข Up to 2.5 m: The seaboards of Lubang Islands and Surigao del Sur; the western seaboards of Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, Calamian Islands, northern mainland Palawan, and Kalayaan Islands; the northern and eastern seaboards of Polillo Islands and Northern Samar; the eastern seaboards of Albay, Sorsogon, Eastern Samar, Dinagat Islands, and Siargao-Bucas Grande Islands; the remaining seaboards of Ilocos Norte, mainland Cagayan, Babuyan Islands, Aurora, and Camarines Norte.
โข Up to 2.0 m: The seaboards of Romblon, Masbate, Cagayancillo Islands, Caluya Islands, and Davao Occidental; the southern seaboards of Quezon, Marinduque, Cuyo Islands, Antique, Iloilo, Guimaras, and Davao Oriental; the western seaboards of mainland Palawan and Negros Occidental; the remaining seaboards of Kalayaan Islands, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Albay, and Sorsogon.
โข Mariners of motorbancas and similarly sized vessels are advised to take precautionary measures while venturing out to sea and, if possible, avoid navigation under these conditions.
Other coastal waters have forecast wave heights of less than 2.0 m.
TRACK AND INTENSITY OUTLOOK
โข It must be emphasized that heavy rainfall and severe winds may still be experienced in localities outside the landfall point and the forecast confidence cone. Refer to โOther Hazards affecting Land Areasโ for more details. Furthermore, the track may still shift within the limit of the forecast confidence cone.
โข MAYMAY will move generally eastward and may make landfall over Ilocos Norte - Ilocos Sur - La Union area by tonight or tomorrow (06 August) early morning. Afterwards, it will traverse the landmass of Northern and Central Luzon and emerge over the eastern coastal waters of Cagayan-Isabela area.
โข MAYMAY is forecast to remain as a tropical storm as it approaches the Philippine landmass. After making landfall, MAYMAY will weaken into a tropical depression by tomorrow morning and may be downgraded further into a low pressure area by tomorrow afternoon or evening. However, due to interaction with terrain, an earlier weakening is possible.
Considering these developments, the public and disaster risk reduction and management offices concerned are advised to take all necessary measures to protect life and property. Persons living in areas identified to be highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards are advised to follow evacuation and other instructions from local officials. For heavy rainfall warnings, thunderstorm/rainfall advisories, and other severe weather information specific to your area, please monitor products issued by your local PAGASA Regional Services Division.
