𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗧𝗘𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗢𝗡 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗔𝗠𝗕𝗨𝗦𝗛 𝗢𝗙 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗩𝗜𝗖𝗘 𝗠𝗔𝗬𝗢𝗥 𝗢𝗙 𝗦𝗢𝗨𝗧𝗛 𝗨𝗣𝗜, 𝗠𝗔𝗚𝗨𝗜𝗡𝗗𝗔𝗡𝗔𝗢 𝗗𝗘𝗟 𝗦𝗨𝗥

The Police Regional Office BAR strongly condemns the ambush incident that transpired at approximately 5:00 PM on August 2, 2024, in Sitio Linao, Brgy. Pandan, South Upi, Maguindanao Del Sur, which resulted in the deaths of the incumbent Vice Mayor of South Upi and his nephew, both of whom were declared dead on the spot. Other victims who were slightly injured are the Barangay Chairwoman of Brgy. Pandan and an 11 year old kid, while the other 13-year-old was unharmed.

Based on the report of South Upi MPS, while traveling through a mountainous area, the victims' vehicle was fired upon by unknown individuals. The perpetrators fled the scene in an unknown direction after the incident. In response, South Upi MPS personnel, in coordination with the 57th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army, initiated clearing and pursuit operations.

Authorities have launched intensive manhunt operations to apprehend the perpetrators, employing all available resources and collaborating closely with other law enforcement agencies to accelerate the investigation. A thorough investigation is underway to gather information and identify the individuals responsible for this heinous crime.

The Police Regional Office BAR extends our deepest condolences to the families of the victims. Our thoughts and prayers are with them during this difficult time. We assure the public that justice will be served, and the perpetrators will be held accountable.
