The culmination ceremony for the pioneering class of the Deputy District and District Commanders’ Capstone Course with 23 Flag Rank and Senior Officers, each representing various Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Districts across the country, was graced and officiated by the 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐭, 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐆𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐝, 𝐀𝐃𝐌 𝐑𝐎𝐍𝐍𝐈𝐄 𝐆𝐈𝐋 𝐋 𝐆𝐀𝐕𝐀𝐍 𝐏𝐂𝐆.

Programmed to an executive-level leadership level, the course strengthens strategic leadership, governance, operational oversight, and organizational stewardship. This is to prepare senior officers to meet the demands of district command and further advance the mission of the PCG with competence, foresight, and unwavering commitment to service.

Coast Guard District Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (CGDBARMM) officially closed the Water Search and Rescue (WASAR) Training for the 18 strong personnel of the 549th Engineer Battalion, Philippine Army after the successful conduct through Coast Guard Special Operations Group (CGSOG) - BARMM aboard Headquarters CGDBARMM, Polloc Freeport and Ecozone, Polloc, Parang, Maguindanao Del Norte on 20 August 2026.

Designed to build high-level water operational readiness, the intensive curriculum was focused on core maritime skills, including life-saving rescue techniques, a demanding 1-mile swim, underwater knot tying, prolonged water treading, and group water survival tactics. Training under elite CGSOG instructors ensured the participants to develop essential confidence in water operations, tactical agility, and life-saving capabilities critical for high-risk amphibious and flood-response missions.

During the culmination ceremony, CAPT NORJAMIN G DIMAPALAO (CE) PA, represented, LTC NOEL C SALVAJAN CE (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer of the 549th Engineer Battalion, expressed his sincere gratitude to CGDBARMM for once again hosting and training their troops, emphasizing the priceless value of PCG’s specialized instruction. He likewise commended the graduates for making the skill sets learned in the training their own.

On behalf of COMMO REJARD V MARFE PCG, Acting Commander, CGDBARMM, presiding officer LCDR JORREL L SEBASTIAN PCG, Chief of District Staff, CGDBARMM, officially declared the class graduates. He further congratulates the 18 participants for successfully winning over the challenges they had to face during the training and recognized their perseverance and commitment in learning more skills to save lives.

26 August 2026 – Today, the Deputy Commandant for Administration (DCA), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), VADM HOSTILLO ARTURO E CORNELIO PCG, and the Acting Commander, Coast Guard District Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (CGDBARMM), COMMO REJARD V MARFE PCG, represented the Philippine Coast Guard in the final command conference for the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao Parliamentary Election (BPE), hosted by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) aboard the Philippine National Police – Police Regional Office Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PNP–PRO BAR) at Camp Brigadier General Salipada K. Pendatun, Parang, Maguindanao del Norte.

The conference served as a final coordination and synchronization effort among concerned government agencies and law enforcement agencies to ensure operational readiness, strengthen inter-agency cooperation, and address security and logistical concerns in preparation for the upcoming parliamentary election.

During said conference, VADM CORNELIO PCG, shared his insights and gave assurance that the PCG will put maximum efforts in fulfilling its role during the said election.

The participation of PCG fully showed its unwavering commitment and support in ensuring the conduct of a free, honest, peaceful, and orderly election. Through its continued coordination with COMELEC, other Government Agencies, Law Enforcement Organizations, and Local Government Units in BARMM, the PCG remains dedicated to safeguarding the community and contributing to a secure and peaceful electoral process throughout the Bangsamoro Region.

The Coast Guard District Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (CGDBARMM), through the expert instruction of the Coast Guard Special Operations Group (CGSOG) BARMM, has successfully concluded an intensive 5-day Water Search and Rescue (WASAR) Training for 32 dedicated personnel from 27 – 31 July 2026 at Headquarters CGDBARMM, Polloc Freeport and Ecozone, Polloc, Parang, Maguindanao del Norte.

Designed to push physical limits and refine life-saving skills, the comprehensive training program covered critical aquatic survival and rescue modules, including:

- Breath Holding and Underwater Swimming
- Underwater Knot Tying
- Proficiency and 1-Mile Swims
- Lifesaving Techniques and Water Entries
- Rubber Boat Capsizing and Recovery
- Distance Paddling
- Group Water Survival

During the closing ceremony, LCDR JORREL L SEBASTIAN PCG, Chief of District Staff, commended the 32 strong students for their unwavering dedication and resilience throughout the grueling 5-day course, emphasizing the crucial role they will play in safeguarding lives across the region.

With these newly qualified WASAR responders, CGDBARMM reinforces its commitment to maritime safety, disaster response, and serving the communities of the Bangsamoro region.

Coast Guard District Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (CGDBARMM) successfully conducted first ever CGDBARMM FUNRUN 2026 from Landasan, Sarmiento, Parang, Maguindanao del Norte to Headquarters CGDBARMM, Polloc Freeport and Ecozone, Parang, Maguindanao del Norte on 13 July 2026. Said activity was also participated by the personnel from the CGDBARMM Operational Control Units and 32nd Marines Company Marine Battalion Landing Team 2, as well as partners of some CGDBARMM Personnel.

In line with its commitment to promoting physical fitness, camaraderie, and esprit de corps among Coast Guard personnel, CGDBARMM facilitated the said initiative, bringing together Coast Guardians in a shared pursuit of health, wellness, and teamwork.

The activity underscores the District’s dedication to maintain the physical readiness of its personnel, whilst making sure their morale and motivation is high.

Coast Guard District Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (CGDBARMM) rendered rescue and assistance to affected families together with the Coast Guard Special Operations Group (CGSOG) – BARMM and Coast Guard Station Maguindanao at Purok 3 Brgy Magsaysay, Parang, Maguindanao Del Norte during the onslaught of Typhoon “INDAY” on 09 July 2026.

Together with the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of Parang Maguindanao, three (3) Deployable Response Groups (DRG) consisting of personnel from Headquarters CGDBARMM, CGSOG-BARMM, and CGS MAGS were dispatched to assist with the evacuation and rescue of the stranded families in Barangay Magsaysay.

During the increasingly alarming weather disturbance, ten (10) DRG Teams remained on standby for any distressed calls within Maguindanao and Lanao Del Sur Areas. Headquarters CGDBARMM likewise continuously monitored the situation and coordinated closely with the MDRRMO and other local authorities to ensure the safety and well-being of the affected communities.

CGDBARMM, as part of the Philippine Coast Guard, remains committed to its mandate of protecting lives and responding promptly to emergencies, especially during any disasters and calamities. The Public are encouraged to remain alert, follow the advisories of local authorities, and immediately report emergency situations requiring assistance.

Coast Guard District Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (CGDBARMM) joined the simultaneous nationwide Flag-Raising Ceremony on 06 July 2026, in solemn commemoration of the 10th Anniversary of the 2016 South China Sea Arbitral Award. Coast Guard Stations under the District likewise joined the activity on their respective areas of responsibilities.

The observance reaffirms the Philippine Coast Guard’s steadfast commitment to safeguarding the country’s sovereignty, sovereign rights, and maritime jurisdiction in accordance with the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), while upholding international law and promoting a rules-based maritime order.

Through its participation, CGDBARMM stands united with the Philippine Coast Guard in advancing patriotism, ensuring maritime safety and security, protecting the marine environment, and preserving the nation’s maritime interests for present and future generations.

Coast Guard District Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (CGDBARMM) together with Coast Guard Special Operations Group (CGSOG) - BARMM successfully completed the conduct of the intensive Water Search and Rescue (WASAR) Class 04-2026 to 16 personnel from the 549th Engineer Battalion held from June 24 to 28, 2026. The rigorous five-day training was conducted at the Coast Guard District BARMM headquarters with the Special Operations Group (SOG-BARMM) as course director and instructors. The comprehensive curriculum pushed the army engineers through demanding phases, including underwater knot tying, advanced rescue techniques, rubber boat handling, and a grueling 1-mile survival swim.

This collaborative initiative heavily focused on bolstering interoperability between the Philippine Army and the Philippine Coast Guard. By streamlining communication and technical rescue tactics, the joint training ensures a faster, highly synchronized response to maritime emergencies and disaster relief operations across the region.

The closing ceremony on June 28, 2026, was graced by LTCOL NOEL C SALAVAJAN PA, Battalion Commander of the 549th Engineer Battalion, who lauded the graduates' resilience. Representing the Guest of Honor and Speaker (GOHAS) was LCDR AKHMAD B WAHAB PCG, reinforcing the strong partnership between the two services.

With this graduation, CGDBARMM and 549th Engineer Battalion not just significantly enhances their field readiness, but also strengthened the rapport of the two unit representing different organizations, standing fully equipped to deploy side by side during critical water-borne rescue operations.
