HAZE ALERT!

Ang nararanasang haze ay dulot ng forest at land fires sa Kalimantan, Indonesia, kung saan ang usok ay maaaring tangayin ng hangin patungo sa ating rehiyon.

Maaaring makaapekto ang haze sa kalidad ng hangin, kalusugan, visibility, at kapaligiran.

Manatiling ligtas:
• Magsuot ng face mask kung kinakailangang lumabas.
• Manatili sa loob ng bahay kung makapal ang haze.
• Isara ang mga bintana at pinto.
• Bantayan ang mga bata, matatanda, at may karamdaman.
• Subaybayan ang opisyal na air quality updates at advisories.

Kung may makitang sunog o makapal na usok, agad itong ireport sa Barangay o MDRRMO.

3rd Quarter League of DRRM Officers Meeting

The 3rd Quarter League of DRRM Officers Meeting was held to discuss key matters concerning the organization and its continuing efforts to strengthen coordination among DRRM Officers. The meeting covered the selection of new officers and members of the Board of Directors, as well as the review and updating of the League of DRRMOs’ by-laws.

Other matters discussed included the status and proper management of the League’s funds and the introduction of the DRRM Database System. ACCESS also delivered a presentation on Disaster Preparedness and Anticipatory Action for Drought in the Philippines, focusing on capacity assessment, drought triggers and thresholds, and appropriate early actions.

The meeting also included the opening preliminaries, acknowledgment of participants, opening and closing remarks, and other matters relevant to the League’s operations and programs. The activity provided an opportunity for the DRRM Officers to address organizational concerns, share updates, and strengthen coordination for more effective disaster risk reduction and management efforts across the province.

Maguindanao del Sur Participates in REDAS Module 1–3 Training for BARMM | August 24-28, 2026

The Provincial Government of Maguindanao del Sur took part in the Rapid Earthquake Damage Assessment System (REDAS) Module 1–3 Training for BARMM, together with representatives from different provinces, Local Government Units (LGUs), and Regional Government Ministries and Agencies across the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

Representing the Provincial Government of Maguindanao del Sur were personnel from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), together with representatives from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices (MDRRMOs) of Talayan, Datu Paglas, Datu Abdullah Sangki, Datu Piang, and Datu Hoffer.

The training was also attended by representatives from other provinces and LGUs, including Maguindanao del Norte, Tawi-Tawi, Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Cotabato City, and the Special Geographic Area (SGA), as well as representatives from various Regional Government Ministries and Agencies such as MOST, MILG, MSSD, MHSD, MENRE, BPDA, Bangsamoro READi, and Provincial Science and Technology Centers.

The training was conducted by the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) – BARMM, in partnership with DOST–PHIVOLCS, with the aim of enhancing the knowledge and skills of participants in earthquake hazard assessment, damage estimation, risk analysis, and disaster risk reduction and management through the use of the REDAS platform.

Through the training, participants gained knowledge in using the Rapid Earthquake Damage Assessment System (REDAS) to assess earthquake hazards and potential impacts, providing valuable technical information that can support preparedness, planning, and decision-making during earthquake-related emergencies.

First Aid and Basic Life Support (BLS) Orientation | August 23, 2026

Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), in coordination with the Provincial Governor’s Office (PGO), conducted a First Aid and Basic Life Support (BLS) Orientation at the Municipal Compound in Radjah Buayan, Maguindanao del Sur. The activity was attended by Hafidz from various municipalities of Maguindanao del Sur, particularly from Shariff Saydona Mustapha, Sultan sa Barongis, and Radjah Buayan. The orientation aimed to enhance the participants’ knowledge, skills, and preparedness in responding to medical emergencies and other situations requiring immediate assistance. As part of the activity, the Provincial Governor’s Office (PGO) also distributed First Aid Kits to the participants to provide them with essential supplies that may be used in administering immediate first aid during emergencies.

During the orientation, participants were introduced to essential First Aid and Basic Life Support principles, including the importance of staying calm, assessing the situation, ensuring scene safety, and providing appropriate and timely assistance to individuals in need. The discussion also emphasized the importance of recognizing life-threatening conditions and taking appropriate initial actions while waiting for professional responders to arrive.

PDRRMO Conducts DRRO Refresher Training with 75IB | August 21, 2026

The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) conducted the Disaster Response and Rescue Operations (DRRO) Refresher Training CY 2026 for members of the Philippine Army, particularly the 75th Infantry Battalion (75IB), at Barangay Satan, Municipality of Datu Unsay, Maguindanao del Sur.

The training covered First Aid and Basic Life Support (BLS), followed by hands-on exercises that allowed participants to apply the knowledge and skills gained during the sessions.

The activity aimed to strengthen the participants’ emergency response and rescue capabilities and enhance their preparedness to provide immediate assistance during emergencies and disasters.

INTER-AGENCY COORDINATION MEETING | August 19, 2026

The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) attended the inter-agency coordination meeting with the Ministry of Social Welfare and Development (MSSD)- both Provincial and Regional Office, to discuss the agenda and the list of concern personnel from Ministy of social sevices and development (MSSD) and the province of Maguindanao Del Sur. The meeting present the overview iPART System, its implementation, and proper utilization. The meeting was attended by the Provincial Administrator, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO), Provincial Treasurer’s Office (PTO), and the GAD Focal Point.

The discussion focused on strengthening coordination and improving the delivery of social services. Participants discussed the gaps in profiling for home-based families and the need to improve data gathering and coordination to ensure that individuals and families in need are properly identified and assisted.

The meeting also discussed the establishment of the Provincial Advisory Council under MSSD-MILG Memorandum Circular No. 001, Series of 2026, as well as the implementation of BAA No. 62 concerning internally displaced persons (IDPs). The activity provided an opportunity for the participating offices and MSSD to clarify concerns, identify needed actions, and strengthen collaboration for more efficient and responsive service delivery.

Basic Life Support Training for Community First Responders

The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), in partnership with the Ministry of Health (MOH), conducted a Basic Life Support (BLS) Training for Community First Responders at Kalilintad Hall, Provincial Capitol, Buluan, Maguindanao del Sur.

The training brought together public servants from the Philippine Army and PDRRMO, who actively participated in discussions and hands-on practical exercises focused on essential life-saving skills.

The activity aimed to strengthen the knowledge, skills, and readiness of community first responders in providing immediate and appropriate assistance during medical emergencies.

Through this collaborative capacity-building initiative, the PDRRMO and MOH continue to enhance the preparedness and response capabilities of community first responders while promoting a more coordinated and effective approach to emergency response.
