Maguindanao del Sur Participates in REDAS Module 1–3 Training for BARMM | August 24-28, 2026
The Provincial Government of Maguindanao del Sur took part in the Rapid Earthquake Damage Assessment System (REDAS) Module 1–3 Training for BARMM, together with representatives from different provinces, Local Government Units (LGUs), and Regional Government Ministries and Agencies across the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
Representing the Provincial Government of Maguindanao del Sur were personnel from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), together with representatives from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices (MDRRMOs) of Talayan, Datu Paglas, Datu Abdullah Sangki, Datu Piang, and Datu Hoffer.
The training was also attended by representatives from other provinces and LGUs, including Maguindanao del Norte, Tawi-Tawi, Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Cotabato City, and the Special Geographic Area (SGA), as well as representatives from various Regional Government Ministries and Agencies such as MOST, MILG, MSSD, MHSD, MENRE, BPDA, Bangsamoro READi, and Provincial Science and Technology Centers.
The training was conducted by the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) – BARMM, in partnership with DOST–PHIVOLCS, with the aim of enhancing the knowledge and skills of participants in earthquake hazard assessment, damage estimation, risk analysis, and disaster risk reduction and management through the use of the REDAS platform.
Through the training, participants gained knowledge in using the Rapid Earthquake Damage Assessment System (REDAS) to assess earthquake hazards and potential impacts, providing valuable technical information that can support preparedness, planning, and decision-making during earthquake-related emergencies.
