LGU Kalibo to Launch Municipal Measles-Rubella Supplemental Immunization Activity on August 10

KALIBO, AKLAN — The Local Government Unit of Kalibo, through the Municipal Health Office, will officially launch the Measles-Rubella Supplemental Immunization Activity (MR SIA) 2026 on Monday, August 10, 2026, at 9:00 AM at Pastrana Park, Kalibo.

The municipal launching marks the start of Kalibo's participation in the nationwide MR Supplemental Immunization Activity, an initiative of the Department of Health aimed at providing eligible children with an additional dose of the Measles-Rubella (MR) vaccine. The campaign seeks to strengthen immunity among children, prevent the spread of measles and rubella, and protect communities from vaccine-preventable diseases.

Following the launching ceremony, the Municipal Health Office, together with barangay health workers and local health personnel, will conduct immunization activities in the Barangay Health Stations (BHS) throughout the municipality. This community-based rollout is intended to ensure that eligible children in all barangays have convenient access to the free MR vaccine.

The LGU Kalibo encourages all parents and guardians to participate in the campaign by bringing their eligible children to the designated vaccination sites in their respective barangays once the immunization schedule is announced.

The Municipality remains steadfast in its commitment to safeguarding the health and well-being of every Kalibonhon child through accessible, safe, and effective immunization services.

📢 PUBLIC ADVISORY | TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE

The Municipality of Kalibo advises the public that temporary road closures will be implemented on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, in connection with the Golden Jubilee Celebration (50th Anniversary) of the Diocese of Kalibo.

The celebration is expected to gather archbishops, bishops, clergy, government officials, and thousands of faithful from across Aklan and neighboring provinces. To ensure public safety, efficient traffic management, and the orderly conduct of the event, selected roads will be temporarily closed, while designated drop-off zones and parking restrictions will also be enforced.

🚧 Motorists and the commuting public are advised to:
• Plan trips ahead and expect possible traffic delays;
• Take alternate routes whenever possible;
• Follow the guidance of traffic enforcers and law enforcement personnel; and
• Observe all traffic signs and advisories in the affected areas.

The Municipality of Kalibo appreciates everyone's patience, understanding, and cooperation as we work together to ensure the safe and successful celebration of this historic milestone of the Diocese of Kalibo.

A significant step towards a mentally healthier and more resilient Kalibo was taken today as the Local Government Unit of Kalibo successfully convened the First Coordination Meeting for the Proposed KAHAYAG AG PAGEA-UM (Light and Hope): Municipal Mental Health, Well-being and Su***de Prevention Convergence Program.

The meeting brought together representatives from various National Government Agencies, local government offices, healthcare providers, educational institutions, law enforcement agencies, and partner organizations, all united by a common goal—to strengthen collaboration in promoting mental health, preventing su***de, and ensuring that every Kalibonhon has access to compassionate, timely, and responsive support.

Participants shared valuable insights, presented the current mental health situation and existing programs within their respective agencies, identified service gaps, and committed to working together in establishing a comprehensive Municipal Mental Health, Well-being and Su***de Prevention System. The meeting also laid the groundwork for the creation of a Municipal Inter-Agency Task Force and the drafting of a local ordinance that will institutionalize the program for years to come.

Because mental health is everyone's concern, KAHAYAG AG PAGEA-UM is more than just a program—it is a commitment that no one in our community has to face life's struggles alone.

Together, we move closer to a Kalibo where every person can find kahayag (light), pagea-um (hope), and the support they deserve.

The Municipality of Kalibo, through its Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Point System, in partnership with and with funding support from the Aklan Population and Gender Office (AKPPGO), successfully conducted the morning session of KATROPA Connect: Gender Sensitivity Session on Positive Masculinity, Responsible Fatherhood, and Men's Participation in Building Safe and Inclusive Communities on June 23, 2026 at the 4th Floor Conference Hall of the New Kalibo Municipal Building.

Participating in the activity were the Chiefs and Barangay Tanods from the 16 barangays of Kalibo, together with the newly elected President of the MOVE Andagao Chapter, highlighting the important role of men as partners in promoting gender equality and preventing violence against women and children.

Present during the activity were Ms. Carla S. Doromal, Executive Assistant I, representing Mayor Juris B. Sucro; Vice Mayor Hon. Phillip Y. Kimpo, Jr.; and Sangguniang Bayan Member Atty. Christine C. Dela Cruz, Chairperson of the Committee on Women, Children, Family, Population and LGBTQ Community. Also gracing the occasion was Mr. Leenard M. Cristobal, Vice President of MOVE Aklan.

The session featured Mr. Paul Adrian M. Pelayo, Population Program Officer I of the Aklan Population and Gender Office, who served as Resource Person and shared valuable insights on positive masculinity, responsible fatherhood, and the role of men in fostering safe, respectful, and inclusive communities.

KATROPA Connect forms part of the Municipality's continuing efforts to engage men as active champions of gender equality and advocates against violence, recognizing that building stronger families and communities is a shared responsibility.

Almost 50 young learners enrolled at the Villa Salvacion Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) Center benefited from the Brigada Eskwela initiative conducted by the Kiwanis Club of Kalibo, Incorporated through the distribution of school supplies and a feeding program held today.

The activity highlighted the spirit of volunteerism and community partnership, with the Kiwanis Club likewise donating paint and painting materials to help improve the learning environment of the children.

Joining the activity were representatives from the Aklan Population and Gender Office (AKPPGO), Ms. Rowena Abueg and Ms. Jemelita Ibesate, as well as the Municipality of Kalibo through Municipal Population Officer-Designate Ms. Maranatha E. Vargas. AKPPGO also distributed Family Planning Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials to parents in attendance to promote informed and responsible parenthood.

Present during the activity were officers and members of the Kiwanis Club of Kalibo, namely Mr. Ben Auyong, Mr. Gerald Morales, Hon. Lilyn V. Jauod, Ms. Lilia Tayco, Engr. Leniel Agustino, Ms. Jessie Nicolas and Mr. Gabby Prado, whose dedication and generosity contributed to the success of the undertaking.

The Municipality of Kalibo extends its sincere appreciation to the Kiwanis Club of Kalibo, Incorporated and all partners for their unwavering commitment to nurturing the welfare and development of children and families in the community.
