3 hours on the trail. Two caves explored. One determined team.

Today’s assessment took us into the depths of Bangka-an Cave and Cansomawo Cave— scaling rugged terrain, and immersing in the forest while evaluating each site’s classification and tourism potential.

More than an adventure, this marks an important step forward.

Through thorough assessment and responsible planning, LGU Catigbian under the leadership of Mayor Benjie S. Oliva is working toward the official launch of cave tourism this June, in time for the Katigbawan Festival — with safety, sustainability, and community at the core.

Our sincere thanks to our partners from DENR, BFP, PNP, Barangay Kang-iras led by Kapitan Leoncio Alcano, and Maitum led by Kapitan Artemio Salpocial. Appreciation as well to our guides, RHU medics, MDRRMO responders, and the dedicated HRMDO/Tourism/PESO/LYDO/MAO team, Kagawad Jessie Ejoc, including our future cave and community guides. Special thanks to Municipal Assessor Ivy Elaine Evangelista for the technical support.
