The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) marked its 122nd Founding Anniversary with a week-long celebration from July 27 to August 1, 2026, bringing together its officials and employees, government and private sector partners, stakeholders, and families under the theme โHusay at Dangal ng Lingkod-Bayan ng BIR.โ
โI truly believe that no anniversary theme could better capture the way our people have served and carried our reforms forward over these past several months,โ Commissioner Charlito Martin R. Mendoza said in his anniversary message.
The activities throughout the week gave concrete expression to the anniversary theme, reflecting the priorities of the BIR DARES reform agenda through programs focused on its people, public service, taxpayer education, integrity, modernization, and stronger institutional partnerships.
These included the mass oathtaking of 195 newly promoted Revenue Officials and employees, community outreach and blood donation activities, a nationwide taxpayer webinar, the launch of the Ethical Standards and Anti-Corruption Course for Revenue Officers (ESACOR), the Mid-Year Command Conference, the turnover of BIR office properties, and the signing of agreements with government and institutional partners.
The weekโs highlight was the formal Anniversary Program on July 31, which gathered the BIR family, former officials, government partners, and private sector stakeholders for a Thanksgiving Mass, recognition activities, the Commissionerโs anniversary message, and the keynote address of Department of Finance Secretary Frederick D. Go.
Secretary Go commended the Bureauโs reforms and situated them within the broader tax agenda outlined by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. in his State of the Nation Addressโone that supports taxpayers while strengthening the revenue system.
โThe direction for the BIR is clear. Keep listening, simplifying, and modernizing. Keep putting taxpayers at the center of every reform because the future of tax administration is measured by how much trust we earn,โ Secretary Go said.
The program also recognized Revenue Officials, employees, offices, and partners whose work contributed to the Bureauโs accomplishments. Commissioner Mendoza acknowledged the many others across the Bureau whose contributions were no less important.
โWe have every reason to be proud of what we have accomplished and of the strong foundation we have built for the work that still lies ahead,โ Commissioner Mendoza said.
The Bureau also launched โAng Ating Sandigan,โ the official BIR Hymn, honoring the Bureau and the men and women who serve in it. Commissioner Mendoza said the hymn will now be played during BIRโs regular Monday flag ceremony.
The anniversary week concluded on August 1 with Pista ng Pamilyang BIR 2026, bringing together officials, employees, and their families for a Parade of Colors, games, food booths, and recognition activities. The day was dedicated to the men and women of the BIR and the families who support them.
As the BIR looks beyond its 122nd Anniversary and to the work ahead, Commissioner Mendozaโs message during the formal Anniversary Program offered a fitting call to the Bureau:
โLet us keep doing the most good we can, in the time we are given and in whatever capacity we are called to serve,โ Commissioner Mendoza said.
