It also helps marginalized sectors affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. Nag-uugnay is a Filipino word equivalent to the phrase "to connect". Formed in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, Nag-uugnay Volunteer Initiative connects institutional and individual donors with medical frontliners, specifically hospitals that Dr. Filipino Estacio and Dr. Sheryl F. Jalaidi serve in the provinces of Camiguin, Ba
taan and Olongapo. Further, we called efforts focused on Dr. Estacio's hospital as Tabang CGH program while endeavors for Dr. Jalaidi's hospitals fall under our Bayanihan Bataan-Olongapo program. To-date, the following institutions have donated PPE sets: the Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation (PDRF); Unilab Foundation; a foreign private donor coursed through the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office; the Tulong Kapatid Consortium comprised of PLDT-Smart Foundation, the Makati Medical Center Foundation and the Philippine Navy; HealthSolutions Enterprises Inc.; and SM Foundation, Inc. Unilever Philippines through Activations Advertising Inc. donated 1,550 hygiene kits for five (5) Covid-19 referral hospitals of Dr. Jalaidi. The following food companies provided food packs and drinks to the health-care workers: Nestlé Philippines and its ad agency Team OnGround for Bear Brand Sterilized Milk; the Jollibee Group Foundation (JGF); and Ronald McDonald House Charities. The following courier service companies delivered PPE sets and hygiene kits to Bataan and Camiguin free of charge: Transportify Philippines, JRS Express; and Sky Land Brokerage, Inc. Nag-uugnay, through our Tulong-Tulong program, is also helping out the UP Covid-19 Response Volunteers (UP CRV) that attends to the needs of jeepney drivers and other disadvantaged sectors within the UP Diliman campus, and the Makabuhay Movement that helps families whose homes were razed by fires in Addition Hills, Mandaluyong. Nestlé Philippines and its ad agency Team OnGround also distributed Bear Brand Sterilized Milk to these two organizations. A private local donor provided 250 reusable face masks to our group which it distributed equally to the UP CRV and Makabuhay Movement. Nag-uugnay Volunteer Initiative was initially formed by Betty Uy-Regala and Kathelyn Ann Bravo in March 2020. We have been since been joined by Denize L. Manalo and Liza Ofianga.
