☀️🌏 TODAY IS THE JUNE SOLSTICE!

At 4:24 PM (Philippine Time) today, the Earth reaches a special point in its journey around the Sun called the June Solstice.

What does this mean for us in the Philippines?

🌞 We experience one of the longest days of the year.
🌞 The Sun appears higher in the sky at noon.
🌞 Daylight lasts a little longer than usual, while the night is slightly shorter.

Although it is often called the "Summer Solstice" in many countries, the Philippines does not have four seasons like temperate countries. Instead, this event is simply an astronomical marker showing that the Sun has reached its northernmost position in the sky.

Did you know? 🇵🇭

Because the Philippines is close to the Equator, the difference between our longest and shortest days is small. Even during the June Solstice, we receive about 13 hours of daylight, compared to some countries farther north that can experience up to 18 hours of daylight!

So if you step outside today, take a moment to notice the bright afternoon sky and appreciate our planet's journey around the Sun. ☀️🌎
