DENR BMB Coastal and Marine Division DENR- Biodiversity Management Bureau - Coastal and Marine Division formerly PAWB-CMMO

The Coastal and Marine Management Office was initially established through Department Administrative Order No. 2002-08, replacing the Coastal Environment Program (CEP) of DENR. Since then, CMMO has become the National Coordinating Office for all coastal and marine environment activities of the country. It is responsible for the formulation of policies; coordination and integration of the developme

nt and implementation of coastal programs and projects; and establishment and maintenance of coastal and marine information management system. CMMO likewise promotes the partnership between national and local governments and elucidates that national policies and initiatives are instrumental in resolving local issues and problems with national impact. Through the CMMO, the DENR’s role is highlighted as a catalyst to effect positive changes through empowering coastal and marine users, stakeholders and decision-makers to ensure a balance between coastal and marine conservation and responsible coastal development.
