As a proud member of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines and an alumnus of the (TOBSPA), we cannot allow the heroism of Scout Chris Lorenz Fabian to pass as just another tragic headline.

In the face of terror, while others ran for safety, he stood his ground. He held the classroom door shut to protect his classmates. He gave them time. He gave them a chance. Ultimately, he gave his life.

That is the highest expression of the Scout Oath: to do one’s duty, to help other people at all times, and to live by honor even in the most terrifying moment imaginable.

I respectfully call on our TOBSPA officers and fellow alumni to recommend to the BSP National Executive Board and the National Court of Honor that Scout Chris Lorenz Fabian be posthumously conferred the Medal of Honor for Gallantry and Heroism, the highest recognition fitting for a Scout who gave his life so others might live.

A nation that teaches its children courage must also know how to honor it. Chris Lorenz Fabian was not only a victim. He was a Scout. He was a protector. He was, in the truest sense, a hero.

Chris, may the Great Scoutmaster of all good scouts be with you until we meet again. 😔⚜️

I usually ignore anonymous demolition pieces. But when the person being described is unrecognizable to those who actually work with him, silence becomes unfair.

For nearly two years of working closely with SILG Jonvic Remulla, I have yet to witness a single instance where he raised his voice at, humiliated, or berated any official or employee of the DILG.

Not once.

The picture being painted by anonymous “sources” is simply inconsistent with the leader many of us work with every day.

Firm? Yes.

Demanding? Abso-f*ckin-lutely.

Public service should demand excellence. That is what every Filipino deserves. But there is a world of difference between high standards and the "caricature" now being pushed online.

The reason people around him remain fiercely loyal is simple: he is equally loyal to his people. He protects them, trusts them, and expects them to rise to the level of the responsibility entrusted to them. Those who work closely with him know this firsthand.

Unfortunately, this is how demolition jobs work. When they cannot attack a person’s competence, they attempt to attack his character. When they cannot bring a leader down, they try to break how people see him.

But truth has a stubborn way of outlasting noise. It does not panic in the presence of rumor. A lifetime of public service and good work cannot be undone by an afternoon spent generating GPT "complaints." The loudest stories burn fast. The truth, unbothered, remains.

On this day, marking 22 years since my Mama survived a moment that tested everything she stood for, I share a simple message.

Not all public service is loud. Most of it is quiet, unseen, and sometimes misunderstood.

From our MLGOOs in the field to our bureaus at the center, the real work happens in the small, steady things we do every day. The kind that doesn't trend, doesn't get applause, but keeps everything standing.

Even when the questions are tough. Even when standing your ground isn't the easy choice.

Today's reminder: you don't have to be perfect to make an impact. Just show up, do the work, and stand firm in what matters.

Somewhere along the way, something is growing because of you.🌱

There is a difference between a strong opinion and a correct one. The Local Government Code draws that line clearly. If we are going to speak of the law in public, we owe the public the courtesy of getting it right.

Our MLGOO Dexter Narrido, was recently invited as a resource speaker on a talk show. The issue arose premised on the (erroneous) assertion that barangays supposedly have no authority to compel the attendance of parties and witnesses. Dexter, correctly argued that the statement is incorrect and in fact cited the correct legal provision under RA 7160:

Section 515 of the Local Government Code provides:

“Refusal or willful failure of any party or witness to appear before the lupon or pangkat in compliance with a summons issued pursuant to the provisions on the Katarungang Pambarangay… may be punished by the city or municipal court as for indirect contempt of court upon application filed therewith by the lupon chairman, the pangkat chairman, or by any of the contending parties.”

Barangays do not “compel” in the same way courts do. But the law ensures that summons issued in barangay proceedings are not meaningless pieces of paper. While barangays themselves do not wield contempt powers in the judicial sense, the law expressly provides the means to enforce attendance through the courts.

Dexter, stand easy. You represented not just yourself, but every MLGOO who does the quiet, difficult work of making the law real at the grassroots. The law is on your side, and more importantly, so is the institution that you serve.

We are proud of you.
