MARANTAN JOINS MARCOS’ ANTI-TERRORISM TEAM AS UNDERSECRETARY

Retired Police Brigadier General Hansel Marantan took his oath today as Undersecretary of the Anti-Terrorism Council (ATC) before Executive Secretary Ralph Recto at Malacañang Palace.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. signed Marantan’s appointment on July 30, placing the former police commander in a key national security position.

The ATC is the government’s lead policy-making and coordinating body on preventing and countering terrorism. Its mandate includes coordinating government efforts to prevent terrorism, suppress terrorist activities, protect the public, and strengthen the country’s counter-terrorism response.

Marantan’s appointment brings his extensive police, intelligence and counter-terrorism experience into the government’s broader effort to address terrorism and other national security threats.

From the police frontlines to the country’s anti-terrorism council, Marantan now takes on a new mandate: helping protect the nation from terrorism and threats to public safety.
